I have test fit a Red Ultrafire 3000mah without fitment problems, but some may be too long.

The 16340 Precise will fit all available 16340 style batteries. If one is too long, simply remove one of the pre-installed O-rings in your Precise (the O-rings are found in the bottom of the battery chamber of your Precise and can be pushed out from the switch side).

David, great battery recommendations and I truly appreciate the time you took to make it. I wonder, would you be so kind as to include your recommendations for the Precise 10440? You see, I'd like to place one order for all necessary batteries and I would really love to love the 10440 and it would be great to get them all from lighthound at once.

I'm working on a second option for the Precise 10440, the AW 10440 (having switches made up for it). Right now though, the only option is the trustfire protected 10440, which are hit or miss.

Yes, I was looking all over lighthound for the protected 10440s to no avail. I've used the trustfires and, as you say, they are more hit than miss for me.

The Trustfires and worse than hit and miss. Wish there was some competition in the market for that batt... Their life doesn't seem to be very long on the ones that do work (for me).

First, let me say that you can get Ultrafire 10440's here: Protected 10440 Battery, 350 mAH

They do not always fit right, so tell them that you are using a Precise and request no weird lengths or off center protection circuits. There are 66 of them left. So don't be too greedy. I only bought 8 myself.

I would rather use these than even the very fine AW unprotected LI, in a sealed unit. Too bad nobody makes an LIMN in 10440 size.

Also, I found these really off the wall titanium battery cases at Lighthound that just so happen to fit 18650 or 16340. They are $110 which puts them on par with a Super T product, well at least as far as price goes. Who knows how the threading is?

I am off to buy my AW batteries for my P18, stubborn medidn't want to pay that much, haha.
Sooooo, out of 3 Red Ultrafire 3000mah... only 1 fits.
The 2 pretty (sparkly flames) spankin' new Trustfire 2400 mAh, nope, don't fit either.
The grey ones, nope.
Lesson learned.

Any extra special rules for AW batteries or do I care for/charge them like my "Fires"?
OMG, I am so lucky that one battery fit, I would be throwin' a tizzaaay!!!

Yeah, some of those ultrafires/trustfires are a bit longer then others, You can just tighten the cap down harder, it'll compress the oring and they'll fit, sometimes if your hands are slippery though it can be hard. A knurled top cap wouldn't be all bad...hmm...

Just waiting on the P10 switch update, so I can get some AW 10440s.
(All the "Fire" batteries are weak, to say the least, but the AWs are to short for the current switch and I don't want to use a spacer.)

Some notes and questions about how batts fit in my shiny new Precise16.

* The 2 AW16340 IMRs (the red ones) that I have fit very snugly with both o-rings in place. The top cap screws down to within a hairline of fully screwed down. A nearly perfect fit. Could be just a little looser.

* The 2 AW16340 ICRs (the black ones) leave a noticeable gap at the top cap with both o-rings in place, it doesn't screw down far enough. Removing an o-ring allows the top cap to be screwed down flush, but the batts rattle loosely inside.

My question is, has anyone fiddled with the o-rings such that a single o-ring config accommodates both IMRs and ICRs with minimal gaps and no rattling? I'm thinking I may be able to shave down one of the two o-rings a hair to get something that will work for all of my batts.

Has anyone else poked along these lines or something similar?

I'm running the IMR 16340's and mine fir Precisely as they should.
Never tried the black ones..

Maybe you have swollen o-rings ... Try alternating between hot and cold compresses and see if the swelling will go down

The problem may be, i have strong hands so i may not be noticing the effort it takes, especially if one has slippery hands. Don't worry, you won't strip anything or hurt anything by screwing them down tight. A .070 oring for the second oring may be an alternative too. As is, they are .100 orings. Hmm...i'll look into that.

You might try flipping the protected batt over putting the positive end toward the button. I was doing this before I got my IMRs and didn't know about the orings inside yet.

When I started meeting stiff resistance I stopped torquing down on it for fear of damaging the batt, so it maybe that if I just power thru it all well be well... i'll try again and see... although different sized orings seem like a more elegant solution to accommodating slight variance in battery sizes... i would be a fan of having some of those available in the "spare parts" corner of the site along with the springs and end cap parts.
