:laugh: Nicotine alone has a pepper taste. Imagine that! It's what causes the burn or throat hit that smokers demand. So the more nicotine in the liquid, the more it will taste peppery. Gives you a reason to drop your nicotine level. I started vaping a 18mg, and over two years later I am down to 6 mg, 3 mg, or zero nic. Flavors are much more flavorful and like their description; although I still like the little nic buzz from a little nicotine time to time.

I still get bouts of vaper's tongue, where I don't really taste the flavor. I can't explain what causes it, but its relatively common. At these times I just vape straight Vg (glycerin) that I buy from Walmart or CVS Pharmacy. Its cheap and relatively available. It has a slightly sweet flavor all its own (its used in many food products as a natural sweetener) and makes a ton of vapor.

Can you use VG to sweeten a liquid you already have that can use a little sweetner? I realize it would change the pg/vg ratio.

I might be crossing a line here by referring another site. If so, let me know and I won't do it again. If you're new to vaping, ECF is The Source for Vaping Knowledge. I have have a lousy selection of B&M stores near me and the two that I've been to have been less than impressive.

So I've been forced to rely on on-line purchases, based on reviews here at ECF. I then check on Spinfuel e-magazine and forum which has juice reviews by a panel of four vapers. Each of the panelists tends to have a favorite flavor genre (tobacco, fruit, dessert, etc) so when they review juices and all four panelists award a flavor 5 stars, it's likely top shelf ( quality, not price).

Honestly, I found several ADV's and some not so good. It's a journey to find something that you'll really like. As an ex-smoker, I thought tobacco flavors where what I would want. After a dozen options of that, a friend shared some of what he was vaping and I've branched out to fruit and dessert. It was a big surprise to find a toffee, as well as a cream/blueberry are my preferred ADV.

My wife is amused by all this, and I don't dare let her know all that I've spent on the "journey" so far!! Hopefully, I'll settle down to a daily cost less than cigs.

Good flavor has much to do with the device you use, correct? If I am using an evic and protank 2 do you think I would even get the full experience of a Five Pawns? In different words, would you say premium ejuice should have high end set up (sub ohm?) I can't afford Five Pawns anyway, but curious, maybe one day I can try!
I haven't used any clearomizers in over a year. They use silica as the wick, which in my opinion mutes flavors. The exception being the new vertical coil/ceramic wick coils of the mini Aspire Nautilus. These coils are a hybrid cross between a cartomizer and a clearomizer coil head. Best of both worlds: the ease of coil replacement of a clearo and the increased flavor and vapor production of a cartomizer. Cartomizers use a polyfill material much like cotton, which is a better flavor carrier.

The higher up the chain of juice delivery attachments you go, the more flavor and vapor production you get:

Clearomizers --> Cartomizers --> 510 drip atomizers --> RBA's

You'll still appreciate a premium flavor in a clearo, but they really shine the higher up the chain you go.

It's not that sweet IMO. There are concentrated sweeteners you can buy from DIY websites which would be better to use for that application. Just a couple of drops into tank will sweeten the juice adequately.

Using Vg will also thicken the e-liquid, which you may not want to do. Vg's viscosity is quite thick compared to the watery Pg.
