Pretty new to vaping, hear my story.

So i started with this guy at work had a refillable e-cig. I was intrigued and had to learn more. I ended up going with him to his buddy's house that was selling them two for 40 bucks - so I bought em and he even gave me some "strawberry menthol" e-liquid (tiny bottle). The guy selling these was making the liquids and even had a mini fridge dedicated to it which at the time I thought was unheard of.

I tried to do some research finding out that I had a set of generic eGos as they say nothing on the battery. After finding that out and how much I actually liked the eGO, last christmas I bought the pink eGo for my Fiance, but she wasn't interested so it has never been used yet. I then started buying random e-liquids from "DealExtreme" because I had no idea where to get good stuff. I then started having an issue with my "clearomizers" (correct term for the tank?) leaking. So I bought some new ones on eBay. Same issue, the plastic would crack and leak near the batter after about a week. I bought more-liquid, this time it was "Totally Wicked". I think thats some good stuff. I started ghosting on the forums and I think I have finally come up with something I like:

I got this today - this is the Kanger MT3S tank, which for some reason I thought was going to be glass. So far this is my ultimate setup. I have also purchased a T3S, but it hasn't arrived yet. I have a few questions... How can I tell how big these batteries are, what do I have to purchase to ensure the proper maintenance of these clearomizers and lastly, what does everyone else think of this clearomizer - did I make a good purchase? It seems to work very well. ( It won't let me post in the eGo section. Not enough posts?)

Thanks

Hello and welcome
It's a good setup ,I use ego's too I love them for on the go.
I use a pass thru and a SVD at home ,MT3 is great keep it clean and when the coil goes out just replace the coil, and your off again vaping
I get the 1300 mah battery's you know by how long they are the longer the bigger lol. This last all day for me
When you take off the T3 look at the post on the battery to see if there is any juice on it if so clean it off.
Best wishes

This is a good setup. I started out with the Kanger Evod also and loved it. Do a search on youtube for " how to clean and dry burn a evod tank" and buy some extra heads for it for when your juice starts tasting burnt. These tanks are plastic so if you put something like cinnamon in it that's probably all you would want to use in that particular tank. The Kanger Pro Tanks are the ones that are made of Pyrex. :vapor:

Welcome! For not knowing anything and buying stuff out of a guy's basement, it looks like you did pretty well for starting out.

As for your questions, I am going to go in reverse order.

Did you make a good purchase? Only you will be able to decide if you made a good purchase. Basically, vaping is individual and it really depends on what works for you. The tanks you bought are pretty popular and seem to hold up pretty well, at least in my limited experience. I have one of the T3S tanks and it's been pretty good to me. I get about 3 weeks of life on average out of each coil.

What do you have to purchase for proper maintenance? All you will need are some replacement coils. These tanks are pretty maintenance free, but coils do wear out. You will eventually need to buy more tanks too, but probably not for a while as long as you take care of these. The plastic tanks do have a tendency to crack and break when using some of the stronger cinnamon flavors, and there is nothing that can be done about that, other than keeping spares on hand. If you want to vape strong flavors, I recommend a Protank 2 or something similar made of pyrex glass.

How can you tell how big the batteries are? Sorry, but I don't know enough to answer this question. I know there are ways to check, but have never had to find out. The reality is that it likely doesn't matter if the battery life is long enough to support your vaping habits. I wish I had a better answer for you.

Hope this helps!

Welcome to ECF!!! Looks like you joined months back but haven't been too active. I am gonna get this outta the way right now and just LOL at you for a bit my friend. You have no idea the (positive) ride you're about to go on if you start frequenting the forum. You will have RBA's, RDA's, resistance and non-resistance wires, cotton, 28, 30, 32G wires, battery testers like multimeters, ohm testers, etc... and a whole mad scientist area set up somewhere in your home REAL SOON, but you won't be smoking and in the end that's all that matters.

I started like you and most with the Ego setup and it works well until you start to want more and more and more LOL Good luck and welcome again!

BTW: I'll will co-sign that an Ego with a protank and some extra coils is just about all you could ever "NEED", but want is a whole different ballgame.

I would like to be able to put the thing in my pocket without worry that it will go off in there.. That will be my next venture. Also, I just got my other tank in the mail from "the best vaping deals" and they gave me some sample e-liquid "Blueberry Candy". Yum! Replacement Wicks are 2.00. Is this the same thing as a coil and is this a good deal? Wouldn't mind buying a bunch because it looks like both tanks use the same one.

Chad are you sure that your current egos can't be turned off? Have you tried clicking the button 5 times really fast? That should turn them on and off for storing in your pocket and most egos come with this feature.

"Wicks" are just the cotton pieces themselves, coil heads are the wicks on a metal base; you can screw these off and replace on the base.

The eGo batteries I have do not turn off with 5 presses. :( And my new tank mysteriously cracked by the mouthpiece. At least I got to try the sample flavor first. It was yummy..

My egos and fake egos all turn off after five clicks, so it's odd to hear of ones that don't. Egos are pretty cheap online, so I'd try that over the guy in the basement. The evods work really well for me, no cracking, but I never put cinnamon or citrus in them. I also don't keep the gear in my pocket, but in my purse, so it gets less wear. Protank 2 is excellent, and might be more durable than an evod. The evods and protank 2 use the same heads, which are pretty cheap. Five heads cost under $10, and the five should last you a few months with minimal care.

I've heard that if the coil is not snugly screwed into the base the top piece can crack from the pressure when you put it back together after refilling. I always give the coil a twist to make sure it's seated.

Just a suggestion, Discount Vapers is a well regarded online store (I've ordered from them twice, great products, service and fast shipping). If you have another MT3 or are going to get more, DV has replacement coils for $5.96 for five!

Kanger T3s/MT3s Coil Replacement ** 5 Pack - 2.2 ohms

Personally I would order some EVODs and Protanks! Great BCC's (just like the MT3s) and they both use the same coil!

Welcome to ECF and enjoy the vape. Your set up is similar to mine, so I'll naturally tell you that you made a great choice. I'm using an EgoT upgraded battery (I think 1000mah) with the Kanger MT3S BCC clearo. So far I've really enjoyed the set up and the clearo has worked wonderfully. I think the only difference between the MT and the T is the MT has the metal wrap. I've heard some people don't like the MT because it is a bit harder to judge juice level, but I've not had an issue with that. I got extra coils and swap them out every few days (also have 2 spare clearos). The one I take out I spray with a cleaner called WhipIt (non-toxic) let it sit for a few minutes and rinse thoroughly with hot water. Then I pat dry with a paper towel and let it sit and fully dry until the next swap. Been rotating 3 coils that way for 6 weeks. Have some new ones to use as the older ones burn out because at present I'm not in the DIY rebuild place. I've only been vaping for 6 weeks, but so far I'm enjoying it and the gear is working fine.

Hope you continue to enjoy your vaping journey.

A bit of a refresher course.. I ended up getting some more tanks and batteries. The new batteries have a blue LED and they do have the 5-click shut off feature which I love. The original batteries have a white LED. Ended up getting 4 batteries and one for a friend. What is the difference between the Kanger t3s with the clear mouthpiece and the black mouthpiece? Is one generic? They both seem well, the clear one though has white o-rings and seem to be cheaper. Other than that I love vaping!

I've been using Go T upgraded batteries (I think 900mah) and Kanger MT3S BCC's since I started vaping 87 days ago and have been really satisfied. It is a simple set up but it fills my needs. The battery lasts all day and the MT3S's have worked great. I swap out and clean the coils every few days. I rotate 4 juice flavors, so have 4 clearos (actually have about 15 of them because I wanted to stock up) which allows me to have a dedicated clearo for each flavor I vape. Really enjoy swapping flavors back and forth in the evening for variety. I've had no leaking issues (which others have reported).

I hope you have the same or better experience and satisfaction with the gear as I have had. Because I am a relatively new vaper, I know there is better gear available, but what I have suits my purpose. I did get one Vision Spinner, but have a charging problem with it and plan on taking it back to my local shop to get it replaced. Because others here have talked about the benefits of VV, I want to give it a try. But until then, I am thrilled with what I'm using. And more important, I have been analog free since Sept 30, 2013. That is a miracle that I am very grateful for. This community and the folks here have been a large part of my success.

Happy New Year and namaste.
