(Notes: The juice was tested on a clean, bridgeless, dewicked 2.3ohm 510 atomizer at 3.7v on a RoughStack with a fresh battery. This juice was also steeped for 2 weeks before reviewing to allow it to blend and mature).

juice specs:
Vaporrenu prickly pear
11mg nicotine
double shot of flavor
Vaporrenu custom blend: 55% PG / 35% VG / 10% Flavor Enhancer
added tasteless vitamin boost: Milk Thistle (.06mL)
throat hit: medium

I ordered a few juices from Vaporrenu a while back. As I was browsing their flavor choices, the prickly pear caught my eye. I have never seen this flavor anywhere else. Prickly pear is not very common in Ohio but I had tried the fruit itself out west a long time ago. I figured I would give this unique flavor a go.

What's more, I live fairly close to a place that has ripe prickly pear fruit this time of year (Jungle Jim's, undisputed #1 grocery store in the world). I figured it would be judicious of me to have the juice and the fruit together. For the sake of science and what not.

These were admittedly not the best looking prickly pears I had ever seen. They are usually brighter on the outside. But these ones felt ripe and turned out to be pretty fresh on the inside. The fruit tastes similar to watermelon with hints of honeydew and bubblegum. Prickly pears are very juicy and sweet. The consistency is somewhat more fibrous than a melon. It is filled with edible seeds and covered in big and small spines. WARNING: do not eat the skin of the prickly pear. Skin them with gloves on. Trust me. There are little hairlike spikes on these that will stick you like tiny splinters. You don't want them in your mouth.

So, as I ate the fruit, I also puffed on the e-liquid. I was pretty impressed with the similarity. For a less-popular fruit, I thought the juice was relatively close. The juice tasted like watermelon and bubblegum, and was very sweet with sugary notes. The candylike and bubblegum flavors came out more than in the fruit, but the mild melon base was almost dead-on. The juice had more tanginess as well, whereas the fruit was milder. It is very possible that fresh prickly pear fruit tastes more like the juice than what I got all the way out here in Cincinnati. I would be curious to hear from anyone in the southwest who knows more.

Anyway, I think the juice is a pretty solid choice for a vaper who enjoys sweet fruit flavors and fruity candies. I hear that prickly pear jam/preserves/candy are popular out west. I imagine they taste very similar to this juice. I will definitely not be trading my bottle away. I find this stuff very mild and refreshing in the morning. One thing about this juice is that it has a fairly weak throat hit. I selected medium when I ordered, but the throat hit is quite subdued. The vapor production was average. About what you would expect from the Vaporrenu custom blend.

Rating:

Flavor accuracy: 7/10
Flavor level: 8/10
Vapor production: 6/10
Throat hit: 3/10
Overall score: 7/10. The throat hit was a little weak, but it is customizable when you order. I think the different elements of this e-liquid come together rather favorably. This juice is quite similar to the real thing in some respects, and is enjoyable in its own right. If you like prickly pears or really sweet fruits, give it a shot.
