Ok so i got my first starter kit yesterday and i started vaping with the pre filled cartridges that come with it(my starter kit is from TW Dse901).
Prior to this i have never tasted a e cig before.

The first puff wasn't gross it tasted a bit sweet with a hint of something else. It wasn't a burining or metalic taste. It just tasted a bit odd. Not sure if this taste is primer fluid everyone is talking about or if it's just the taste of the e fluid itself.
I also bought a bottle of Apple ejuice(TW) an sampled some of that. I put a few drops into a blank cartridge to see if the taste I was getting was from the pre filled carts. But it ended up tasting exactly the same! I couldn't even taste apple or even a hint of apple at all.
So i was wondering if this could be the taste of primer fluid....maybe. Or maybe the taste of apple is really weak and what i'm tasting is the PG.
A friend of mine told me that she sampled her bro in laws e cig and she said that all the flavors tasted pretty much the same. I don't really believe that though. I mean how could they. People wouldn't buy other flavors if they all tasted the same.
Anyways I'll keep puffing and see if i can get this taste out or if it changes into something that taste better...lol.
Anybody have any thoughts?

Variety--Putting a few drops of e-liquid is not enough and you are only going to get a dry hit with the taste of the core.--Fill the core up as much as possible, but not to the point where it is pooling on the top--The core should be very moist. Once you burn off the primer fluid taste and are using the adequate amount of e-liquid, you should get a nice flavored draw---Sun

I watched Spikey's intro video. She was saying that, to get rid of the taste of primer fluid, we should just vape with new atomizers until the primer is gone. How about just wash them off by running hot water through atomizer (i.e. clean the atomizer)? I haven't tried this myself, but I am thinking this might be faster, right? Or am I hurting the atomizer by just washing off the primer?

You will not hurt the atomiser by washing it.

You will need to blow the water out of it and let it dry, then drip a couple of drops of your preferred liquid on to the bridge to add moisture to the wick.

Dont know if this will get rid of the taste.

I personally have not had any with really horrid primer in them, they tend to be a bit on the flat side for the first 1-2 hours vaping and that is all.

Coca Cola is good for getting rid of nasty flavour , dont know if I would do it to brand new one though.

Trapped within my imagination
Hi variety, I also just got my TW 901 the other day as well as a 401.. And mine has the same taste... Ive already brokin in the 401..I'm still trying to breakin my 901 ( and trying to get hubby to help break it in for me lol) I've rinsed out the cart-filling that it came with and tried a new flavor. I've dripped on the atomizer.. And last night I also gave my atomizer a coke bath..It is getting better.. But I honestly think I just need to keep breaking it in instead of laying it down.. Post back and let me know how the breaking in is going...

Keef,

Thank you for the information. Washing did help me a bit. Next time, I think I will vape until primer is gone (didn't know how long it would have taken).

Another factor with taste when "trying" an ecig or getting your first kit: your taste buds are pretty numbed out by tobacco smoke. If a smoker tries a couple and says they all taste the same, well yeah, most things do. ;)

Even with just smoking ecigs, I've noticed that later in the evening my flavors don't have as much taste to them. It's all blanded out by the coating of pg I've got from the days inhaling, or just the loss of novelty. In the morning I start afresh.

I'm a new vaper myself and oddly enough I've found the same to be true with the flavors. Making the switch from analogs to vaping wasn't too difficult (except with my first cup of coffee in the morning and right before going to sleep at night). I have NEVER liked menthol cigarettes but am finding the menthol ejuice from Pure Smoker to be HIGHLY ENJOYABLE lol

It leaves a nice tingly feeling in my mouth and has a really nice flavor that doesn't seem to diminish as the day goes on. Granted the flavor is REALLY strong so I end up using the higher nic juice and cut it down with VG for a nice smooth flavor.

Newbie here! I just got my first 801, and the primer taste seems to be lasting forever. I tried the suggestions on this board and nothing seems to help. I can't "smoke it out"...I get a headache and feel nauseous, and that's WITHOUT inhaling. If I have to go through this with every new atty, maybe this e-cig thing isn't for me.

Yeah the primer does taste nasty but hang in there I have about 16 atty's that I've cleared of the primer and sure it's $uck$ literally but the e-cig is worth it!!! For me it was just better to get it all over with so as soon as I got the primer out of 1 I did the next and in a few days they were all clear of that nasty primer taste.... I'm loving it now plus like someone said in one of the previous post your taste buds will increase and change and you WILL be able to taste the different flavors... My suggestion would be to start with stronger flavors such as RY4, Coffee, tobacco things like that then as your taste buds increase go for the more subtle fruity flavors :) Good LUCK and hang in there

Can I just add, although some people never seem to experience the primer taste, I have to admit I always do with every new atomiser, and yes, they are dull for a while, which can be for a matter of moments or days.

Now getting rid of the primer taste isnt that easy, rinsing in hot water wont do it, just as it wont get rid of grease on a plate thats had fried eggs on.

Some people use Pepsi Max, not Cola, and they use it because it contains no sugar, which will just gue up your atomiser again.

I use Steradent tablets, which are designed for soaking false teeth, and no, I dont have any....lol.

However, with a brand new atomiser I dont clean it, I simply take Primer Puffs....

This is when you draw, but dont inhale, you do that over and over till you feel its time to give it a proper go. This will work and fairly quickly.

Never throw away the juice in your carts, one day you may be glad of it. So get a syringe (5 or 10ml size) put the filling, removed with tweezers from cart to protect your fingers, into the syringe and squeeze the juice into a bottle. Then wash the filling, dry on paper towel, to hurry it up, place in warm oven for 5 mins or so.

The 801 is quite a large cart and holds a lot of e juice, can I ask is cart you are using one that was supplied? What I am trying to get at is that the juice therein could be too high in nicotine content for you, as well as the primer fluid causing a few problems.

Another trick is to add a couple of tiny drops of e juice to the atomiser to make sure your atomiser is moist, but you need to be very careful that you dont put too much on, as that could flood the atomiser and cause juice to leak though to the battery.

Good Luck, and dont give up any of you..
