Pro Tank 2... Biggest waist of money ever?

Howdy all,

I have googled this issue and I have yet to find any help... This tank is pissing me off and I am about to say "$%^ it and go back to cheap poly tanks...

I have had 2 common problems..

Tank floods my battery with juice, didnt matter how full or empty I kept it, how I stored it over night, how I stored it during the day when its being used it filled my battery with juice. Switched coils and issue went away. Went back to vaping and happy as can be... for a few days... Now its flooding again, but this time instead of flooding my battery The liquid is getting out around the top of the coil and getting all over the attys little chimney deal. I have tried putting two of the little silicon boots on it but I am still getting a chimney full of liquid.

Tank: Pro Tank 2
Battery: Ego CTwist I have varied from 3.3V-4.3 (4.3 is too high)
Atty: Tried both 1.8 and 2.2 or 2.4 Ohms resistance levels.
Liquid: Currently running "Black Cloud" Local company and by far my favorite so far.
When I take a hit from it I am not using my lungs and I am pulling gently, not smoking on it hard. Taking pulls at about 5-6 seconds (according to my buddies battery that counts).

Anyone help me. I got the Pro Tank because I was tired of replacing smaller poly tanks when I kept breaking them and found out that my favorite liquid would actually crack Poly but now I am wishing I would have saved my money.

Help?

I had/have a load of issues with the protank2. I flipped the little rubber thing and took out half a wick to try and get rid of the burning taste that seems to happen pretty often. The thing that worked for me (along with the others) was to use the fashion ring, a different battery (vv/vw) and take some long drags every so often without pressing the battery. Haven't found a real solution for the leaking part yet :(

The protank 2 is a tried and true atty, and fully rebuildable. That being said if anything is happening regarding juice leakage simply unscrew the coil housing, pop the chimney off and experiment with more or less wick over top and through the coil; heck, while you're in there you might as well pop the center pin and grommet out and wrap a new coil with some 28 gauge around .9ohms. I even have a few knock off's in my shop that I've built vertical coils for and produced hard. It's all in the setup. If you want plug and play with coils get a bunch and keep trying through them until they work. As it stands I've had entire boxes that don't fire from factory! bEwArE

I would check the silicone gasket on the top cap of the tank (top and bottom wouldn't hurt). Leaking can occur if there's no vacuum. As you vape, a tiny bubble should float from the coil area to the top. This equalizes the vacuum on the bubble at the top so that juice feeds incrementally. Air leaks at the top cap gasket can wreak havoc and cause leaking to occur at the bottom.

If you bought it at a B&M, they should swap it out for you. If it's mail order, contact the web site and explain what's happening. Either way, you should be made whole. I vape 100%PG and 80pg/20vg in my Protank 1 and 2 with no leaking issues. I carry both upright in a jeans pocket and never have seen a leak.

If you really want a good tank that works and produces a great vape, buy an Aspire Nautilus. It's about $35, but well worth it. Kanger heads last 3 or 4 days. I'm still vaping on the first two heads that came in the box with my Nautilus and I'm two weeks out from the purchase date. Both are still producing good flavor and voluminous clouds. I've swapped them just to compare.

Hmm I've gone weeks with the same head on my pt 2 and they work fine after cleaning/dry burn. When the gurgles start, take off the atty and blow it out with a rag covering the threading.
Fluid in the battery usually happens on mine when the head starts to unscrew itself somehow...still having figured out why.

I'm with ya. I have banned protanks out right. I still use kanger t3s tanks when I go to work. At home I'm strictly a dripper. I have had one protank original and 2 protank 2's, just thinking I had bad luck, I kept giving them chances. I also tried the different levels of resistance. That didn't make much difference, I was either getting mouth fulls of juice or constantly cleaning batteries up. There is literall a world of tanks and such, you can try out. I prefer drippers and building my own now. There are a lot of affordable cartos that perform well. I also still like evods and t3s. For me protanks are definitely out.

LOL. Reading all the comments on how to baby the protank is cracking me up. Try a RDA. Learn to build it. Learn about cotton wicking. Learn what you like and build it that way. No gurgling, and best of all hit it as hard as you want. Flavor is so much better. I'm not into cloud chasing but you do get more vape from a RDA. I do realize that drippers are limited, however, that's covered too. Russian 91%, Kayfun, Aqua, etc. Its endless. I said in a earlier post I use kanger t3s's when I go to work. T3s performs much better than protanks IMHO.

One thing I have had success with (sort of) is using peaches and cream cotton yarn. Once I boiled it and made sure it was nice and clean I untwisted it so it broke down to 4 strands. I take two of the stands and feed them into my homemade kanthal needle then double them over. SO you are basically feeding 4 strands into your micro coil. once you have it into position I leave some excess cotton hanging out and wrap that loosely between the base plate and the coil body. it acts as a fluid insulator. The tank has not flooded since BUT it made the draw tighter. I am going to try a little less cotton next time and see if I can find a happy medium. I am also waiting for my Hcigar Kayfun 3.1 so maybe once that gets here my pt2 will be a distant memory lol.

Thanks guys,

I dont draw too hard, I draw hard enough to get the vape... and I make sure I dont leave any in it to condense. The tank is only 2 weeks old so I cant believe that the seals are already bad. I just dropped a new coil in it, well see what happens with this one. It seems that after a day or two I start too see these issues.

Ive read about the guys ding their own wicks and such but I dont have the time or patience to mess around with them. I need something that just works from the factory. Specially when it costs $15. The cheap little $3.50 Stardust tanks were better IMHO. other than they broke way to easy.

I bought online from a store, I used to like dealing with them but when I bough the Pro Tank I also bought some liquid.. When I recieved it the liquid was spilled all over inside of the package (PostOffice was REALLY happy about that. ) I emailed them and they didnt give a rats ..., they told me that was the risk I took ordering it from them online. Needless to say I wont deal with them again and Im not going to attempt to see if they will help me with the ProTank.

Hi. I gave up on Protanks and Kanger in general I just bought a VTR witha iclear 30s
and let me tell you its an awesome tank i bought another one and i will get some 16s soon
for my itaste vv i am using the 30s on my VTR MVP and cool fire 1 and was only
using protanks before The iclears blow the protanks outta the water

I've been looking through the forum for a few months and I've seen lots of mixed reviews and opinions on both the Protanks and the Kangers. I don't know if I should think they are good or to think they are not so good. I've been doing some asking around about getting something better than what I'm currently using and I would have to say that the iClear 30s seem to be the way to go. So thanks for this post because it pretty much confirms what I have been seeing and been being told by others. I'm gonna get one or two of em and sure hope they are as good as folks are saying they are.:thumb:

I have been looking at those iClear tanks as well. Ill play with the Kanger, if all else fails Ill sell it to my buddy, his protank works just fine and he smokes it like its a big ol' Hookah hose. Hes doing something right.
