I have a Pro tank III and was wondering why it sucks so much!?

I have used everything from 510 attys with the cartridges back in 2008 (they did not work that well either) to stardusts to iclear 30 and 30s's to carto tanks to kayfuns etc, and all of them work better than the pro tank!

I have read good reviews about the pro tank and am wondering if I am doing something wrong or is it just not my thing? I have only tried them with the stock coils at 2 ohms (stock and rewicked with cotton) and am getting very little vapour, flavour and zero throat hit.

I am waiting on some 28g kanthal right now and will try a micro coil build on the pro tank when I get it, but I thought I would get a decent experience out of the stock coil for the time being!

Any thoughts would be helpful. I want to love the pro tank but am struggling!

Thanks.

Its strange, it seems hit and miss with the PT3 yet my Aerotank which is a PT3 with a dual coil head and airflow control I cannot praise higher.

Have you tried the 1.5Ohm single coil heads at all? Or try the dual coil heads which only fit the PT3 and Aero, I have the 2Ohm 2xC ones in mine and its really spot on for a BCC tank, not quite to the KFL or Kraken but its not far off.

I do know what you mean though, I had a mini PTII and to put it bluntly, it was bland and had no guts, gave it one of me daughters as it was one of the gold versions and she's like a magpie with bling ^^

The coils I have are dual coil 2 ohm. They are doing nothing for me! I ran out of kanthal and am using my old stardusts right now until the mail man comes to save the day! I even took one of my stardust coils apart and put it in my kayfun for now.

I just want to like the pro tank! I have a bunch of heads for it and its glass! It is the perfect tank in theory. If only it worked well! haha

I will try rebuilding it when I get my kanthal and it may be just the thing for me! I guess I will have to wait and see. If it doesn't work out I may just have to give it to someone who can put it to use.

Thanks for the reply!

I also find the evod does not do it for me. Maybe these are just not the right toppers for me. The evod I have is a 2.5 ohm head and its about the same as the pro tank for me. All of my other toppers are around the 1.7 ohm range so it may be the higher ohms that don't work for me.

I am building a 6-35 watt APV right now so I will try out the higher ohm heads at a higher wattage when that project is complete. I am limited to the 11 watts of the Evic at the moment as that is my highest wattage device right now.

I have 2 ProTanks, I and a II, that I use on a regular basis. I use 28g kanthol and cotton to rebuild the heads at 1.7-1.9ohms.. I must say that with the stock coil/heads i was very disappointed with them but after learning how to rebuild theses properly I have found something that works great for me. Rip Trippers has an excellent video on youtube on this very topic. check it out, it saved my ProTanks from the junk pile to become my everyday out and about tanks. I originally used these on my mech mod but have found that putting them on my vamo and adjusting the watts accordingly has made a huge difference. Mini Protank Micro Coil Rebuild - YouTube

I have an Evic, a mech, a few egos (fixed and VV) and an old school mech that I forget the name of but it is a 6v mod. The pro tank does not work on the 6v mod and on the Evic 11 watts still does very little for me.

I think a good single coil build around 1.5 ohms might just be the ticket on this tank. I will report back when I get my 28g kanthal.

I find I like top coils for the warm vape. I think the kayfun is considered a bottom/mid coil but is known for a warmer vape. It is my go to at the moment with the stardusts and iclears as a decent backup. Will be ordering an assortment of drippers and a few rebuildable tanks to try out here soon.
