Hey guys,

I'm new to the world of e-cigarettes bought my first one yesterday and experiencing trouble with it already.

The battery's fully charged, I'm using a new cartridge but half the time when I take a toke the led doesn't light up and no vapour comes out like the battery's dead. If I suck on the battery the LED lights up and if I suck on the atomiser it lights us (both bad ideas I know) but as soon as the cartridge is one it works perfectly half the time and not at all the other half completely randomly, not a clue what to do. Any suggestions would be gratefully received thanks.

Broken atomizer or you got liquid in the battery. Auto batteries are prone to being damaged by juice drips. It does sound like the drag sensor is still working. Check and make sure the battery connection (both sides) is dry.

BTW I think that model is an M401 but I am not sure - the atomizer could be different if they use foil-cover carts the atomizer pokes open instead of plugged carts like M401. I started on manual M402 and manual M401.

Try a short hard drag to warm up the atomizer and then your real drag - steadily and slowly. People with auto batteries often have to do that.

I can tell you this is not the best way to vape. Manual batteries are better. Larger models are better (like 9mm diameter and 110-128mm long). Many models are better supported and have cartomizers which many people prefer to atty+cart

My M401 manual was not too bad except for the annoying carts.

Here is something else you could be doing wrong - if the battery cuts out or cuts out and flashes, then later works, then cuts out again, then maybe it has a short safety cutoff. The safety cutoff is especially needed on auto batteries because auto batteries can turn on accidentally in wind or vibration. Some batteries have safety cutoffs as short as 5 seconds and that means if you activate it for more than 5 seconds (in this extreme example) then the battery will disable itself and either refuse to light or will flash instead of warming the atty. it's usually a slightly different flash from the "out of power" flash. If a battery has hit a safety cut-off, then for some number of seconds (anywhere from 10 to 90 seconds) it will not be usable.

Hello & welcome Cmguttridge :)

Excellent help & advice there from Dormouse.

The M series e-cigs aren't that popular in the UK & I've never used one myself. IMHO I think you would do far better with a larger manual e-cig like a Riva/eGo, Battery life is so much better & no sensitive cut off.

I smoke m-402's along with ce2 m-series cartomisers and the draw and vapour is fine. The problem with yours is that ridiculous intellicig cut-off where it cuts out for a full 2 minutes. It's not supposed to kick in until you attempt to draw beyond 5 secs but my experience was it often kicked in after as little as 2 secs on faulty batteries. It sounds like you have 2 crap batteries. Post your problem on the Intellicig forum and shining wit (John Chamley - without whom Intellicig would be best avoided) should come to your aid.

Posted in intellicig to no avail, emailed a few people and intellicig themselves. Thanks for the advice still can't find anything wrong with it or anything to prevent it from functioning properly, has anyone heard of or had experiences with a defective e cigarette that just could not be resolved or an entire batch because I did get both from the same shop in the space of two days
