Problem with Kamry KTS

Alright, ECF, I recieved my KTS and it came with two batteries, they're marked as kamry 18650, not much other information on them. I recently put both batteries in my mod after their first charge and the firing button gets hot and I notice some of the plastic that is on the batteries are melted after I take the batteries out to look at them. Is my mod bad, or did I just get bad batteries? I'm very scared of these batteries exploding, and I don't want this to ruin my experience with vaping. Can you guys suggest any solutions or reasons for my batteries/mod getting hot? Any input would be awesome!!

Well, most generic batteries that come with kits like that are not the right batteries. An IMR high drain battery is the best choice for all mods.

What is the ohms of your build? You are obviously over taxing your battery regardless of which ones you have. I'd be scared too!! If you don't know the amp limits of your batteries, and the ohm of your coil, you are just begging for bad news and a trip to the ER. Do the research first. Even with the appropriate battery, if you have a bad build that has a short or to low of ohms, you are in trouble.

My multimeter is being all weird, so I can't even read the ohms. But, I have the KTS with an 18650, and and iClear 30 on top. Can you recommend a build that would be good, and also relatively affordable?

I agree! When it worked, the mod worked wonderfully, I got an excellent vape, and I didn't feel the need for cigarettes, unfortunate that I'm having this problem :/

The iclear should be fine, but get some good IMR batteries. These AW IMR 18650 3.7v 1600mAh - Batteries would be good. Once you get some good batteries things should be all good. Would probably put a new coil head on you iclear though. Might of fried it with the crappy batteries. And for your own sake and safety, research mechanical mods and batteries and ohms law, and know what you are doing. If you want to get into builds, check out the rba subforum to get started.

Oh, and I think the iClear is just fine, it's still vaping properly, tested it on some kind of ego battery my friend left me with. Thank you all so much, happy vaping!

Yup sounds like junk batteries. Recycle those puppies and get you some decent IMR batteries. If you dont plan on building sub-ohm coils, It would be a good idea to get a safety fuse. I use the VapeSafe Lite fuse. It is only around $10 and it is reset-able. It will give you peace of mind and the cost is cheap compared to plastic surgery.

Thank you guys, I really love my new mod, it really made me re-consider quitting, I still have a couple cigarettes a day, definitely cutting down, and I just enjoy vaping on this KTS. It's so pleasant to feel like I'm smoking and have nice flavors, the wonderful cool vapor, and options for control, I would hate to lose that, you guys on ECF, as always, are helpful and awesome!

The KTS is known to get hot switch button problems. If it is the switch button and not the battery, check out post #30 here.

Is there any way I can tell if it's the switch and not the battery? Also, plastic on battery is melted near the button, are they still safe to use? I'm really new to mods, sorry if these questions are stupid haha

You can use some shrink wrap or electrical tape to cover the melting, but would check out the volts and condition of the battery before using. If it has lost some of it's properties from the abuse it could be unsafe to use.
