Problem with my iTazte MVP 2.0 :(

Hi,

I'm new here, after googling this seemed to be one of the few places where people seemed knowledgeable about vaporizers and how to fix them so I am hoping someone can possibly help me. I've had my iTazte for about a month now and it's been working beautifully with no issues until this morning. I went to use it this morning and noticed the side display was stuck on P7.0, pressing the button 3 times doesn't do anything and neither does holding the button down for 10 - 30 seconds. I've tried unscrewing the top and plugging it in but nothing seems to make a difference. Is it broken or is there some other way of resetting the battery that I don't know about?

Here is a picture I took of the display:

Any help anyone could give me would be super appreciated, thank you again :)

P7.0 means you are set to vape at 7 watts. If I remember correctly that is the default. To change it you have to hold your top button down for 3 seconds for it to go from your hit counter to you wattage adjustment. Once you are on your P7.0 screen then hit your top button again and it should go to P7.5. Unfortunately you can only go up and can not go down so you will have to cycle all the way past P11 to get back down to P6.0. If you choose to vape via voltage and not wattage then hold your bottom button down and use that same bottom button to cycle between voltage.

If this does not help then power cycle the battery by hitting the power button three times rapidly.

Oh boy, sounds like we have a bad one!

Here's what happening: For whatever reason, your MVP thinks that you are holding down the 'P' button. This could be because of a stuck/dead button or even a short. I, myself have not experienced or heard of this issue before. As for solutions...well, they are limited in my opinion. First you should try pressing the 'P' button and see if you hear that very distinctive click. If you do not, try wiggling the button around and pressing it repeatedly to free the button.

However, if you do hear a click that means you have bigger problems - a short or loose wire in the device. If this is the case, I would immediately contact the vendor you purchased your MVP from and discuss possible solutions for a replacement. If they refuse to replace the device, I would first recommend that you purchase another. In all honesty, these devices have a very low failure rate. Of all of the people on here that own an MVP, very few have problems that are related to the device itself.

Now, if you do not want to/cannot purchase a new MVP and you are willing and knowledgeable about electronics, here's what you can do: Carefully remove the 4 hex screws from the bottom of the device and slowly pull it out. I've never taken apart my MVP, but a guess as to what you'll find is a set of wires connected to your display screen and buttons if this is not mounted directly on the control board. What you are looking for here is a wire that is either not connected to anything or is touching another wire - generally around the location of the 'P' button. You will need to isolate this wire, make sure it is not touching any other electronic components, and; if need be, re-solder the wire to the 'P' button control board. Again, DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH ELECTRONIC CIRCUITRY. We are not dealing with a circuit-protected electronic here - this battery can put out enough amperage to do some serious harm. $40 for a new MVP is far better than risking electrical injury.

Hopefully you can find a solution - and who knows, maybe somebody else on here has experience with the issue. Good luck!

I have had this issue before I took the tank off and let it sit for a couple hours and it turned off. take the tank off and look at the connection on the itaste itself. has the o ring expanded? this happens when to tighten the tank on to much. its possibly grounding itself out if it has. that's why mine broke. and the display was stuck on like that. it was not worth the hassle of fixing it I just bought another.

Interesting...so was it the o-ring being expanded that caused the issue or the floating-pin design of the MVP being pushed too far in that cause a grounded short within the device? The only reason I ask is because I've built my own coils before and have had them short. The device simply wouldn't fire, but the LCD display still remained normal aside from displaying 'non' as the resistance when I checked. I would think that if it were grounding itself out/shorting that it would react the same way unless the pin were causing a short in the device before it reaches the control board that is supposed to prevent shorts.

Either way, it's worth a shot and won't hurt anything to try. OP: Give this a try and let us know what happens. If you want, post some picks of the o-ring and pin inside the 510 connector.
