Ive been using the smoktech DCT tank. I have 2 3ml tanks and 1 6ml tank.

I use boge SR and LR cartos in stainless.

I shaved one of my tanks down to fit a regular size boge carto.

I punch one hole (not slot) in my carto since i use a 70/30 blend.

No matter what I do, i end up with an almost metallic taste after a few hours of vaping in ALL of these tanks.

I plan to purchase a different tank to see if this problem will be resolved but before I spend more money to do that, im wondering if anyone has any knowledge as to what the problem might be.

I have tried the same juice in a regular unpunched boge and the flavor is fine.

Could it be the smoktech DCT O-Rings fouling up the taste? I cleaned both the tank and the outside of the stainless cartos with PGA already and I get the same problem - it gets increasingly more noticable the day after i have filled a tank.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

I've never noticed that taste with CE2's..maybe it's something on the outside of the carto..maybe try cleaning the outside of the carto before and after punching it..there could be oil or something on the outside..also the punch could be leaving some metal on it then it's getting in the juice. I doubt it would be the o-ring as it's rubber.

It sounds like the tank isn't feeding right. Have you noticed if the fluid level in the tank has changed/lowered when the metal taste hits?

Are you using the delrin/plastic capped DCT tanks or the metal plated tank caps?

Not meaning to sound like a jerk, but are you sure you got all the residual glue goobers off the outside of the carto?

If it's not feeding, the hole may be too small or the filler material could be blocking the punched hole causing the funky taste. You may also need to punch a second hole to feed certain liquids better.

If you're using a flavoring with certain kinds of acidic flavorings, it could be stripping the plating off the metallic tank end caps (these type are actually a chrome vacuum plated plastic). I've been lazy a few times and found that it only takes a little of the carto sticker glue residue to make some of my menthol flavored juices taste nasty.

I use the delrin tanks. I know it's feeding just fine because I am able to flood it with just a few primer puffs.

The carts I use are stainless and come that way. No sticker glue involved. Regardless, I wipe the outside down with alcohol.

Maybe I'm punching too deep to where the metal is touching the filler. I'll try punching till I hear the click and stop right there to see if it helps.

But it is interesting you bring up only your menthol juices tasting funky- I mainly vape menthol.

I haven't tasted any metallic taste at all and I use the delrin dctanks with ss cartos. Now when I tried making the syringe tanks with the ideal industries brand syringes from tractor supply, I could taste a strong rubber taste that made it unvapable. It was funny cause lots of people use them and haven't tasted this, so I figure it was me and a few others. Kinda like most people can't smell the bitter almond smell of cyanide but some can. I can smell garlic when it comes out of others pores when others can't. Maybe it's genetic.

maybe it's the alcohol you're using to wipe down the cartos. :glare: I don't wipe mine down.

It sounds like it's not your tanks but you're tasting the metal off the cartos. are you just starting out with ss cartos in tanks? If you're that sensitive to the ss cartos, you might not be able to use a carto tank :(

There's other ways to feed a carto or atty other than tanks.
