I understand your point & agree that a mech's best qualities are utilized when used with an RDA. I also agree that with toppers using replacable coils (ie kanger) their best performance is on a regulated device. HSAT I don't like to see a new poster come to the forums asking for help with a legitimate problem & then get feedback telling him he's using the wrong stuff. I mean, if he were using the wrong battery that would be one thing. But I'd prefer to see the user get what he has working the way he wants so he can come to his own conclusions about what he likes using & what works best for him.

I use 1.2-1.5 ohm coils on a mech all the time & I'm perfectly happy doing so. And no, I would not buy a "tournament mod" to use on a protank. I've never used a protank. In fact I've only use a handful of clearo tanks ever in my vaping journey & I only used those because rebuildables hadn't been invented yet.

Ok, I'm sorry if I came out wrong, I just wanted to help.....VAPE ON...

It sounds to me like a short issue, definitely have it looked into. On a side note, there is absolutely nothing wrong with using a kanger or aero tank on a mech.....as the output of a fully charged battery will be 4.2 volts. A mech isn't more powerful then a regulated vv/vw in that regard. Where they shine is they have no restricting circuitry, so you can go sub ohm. But keep in mind that when using a tank on a mech, your vape quality will drop off as the battery empties and voltage output drops. One way to avoid that is to use a "kick" which will turn your mech into a variable wattage device. There are also many nice regulated vv/vw mods that have the sleek look of a mech. I love my nemesis and nimbus RDA, but I also love my variable wattage mod with my kanger protank 2 for all day vaping. Something to keep in mind

Day 2 witg this tiny thing and its still amazing. Had a bunch of people over and this thing wouldn't quit on a 18350. In theory im cooking somewhere around 11 watts with the 1.2ohm coil. All my modded aerotanks work flawlessly.

Which brings me to a rant about cloudchasers. What i dont understand is that mechanical modifications "mods" are designed to me built. So you learn how to build a kayfun or genesis and understand some battery chemistry. My problem is when someone asks to use an item the cloudchasers immediately want you buying $150 worth of new equipment. NO ONE in a shop will ever offer the idea of modifying the parts you have as i did. Look it took me 2 1/2 minutes to modify my aerotank bases and im now vaping mech. I think the cloudchasers are afraid of truly modifying something that hasn't been on YouTube yet.

Rant #2 should be short. Tournament Vaping?!?!! Making a sport of it will hurt the industry IMO. Tho an argument can be made that me and the guys being long distance drunks hasn't hurt the alcohol industry.

With a fresh battery you would be just over 14 watts on that coil, then around 12 watts when you reach 3.8 volts

yup, i say 11 because at 3.7 its 11.45wats then starts the steady decline. On my MVP and Vamo i usuall hovered around using 9~10 watts, so this is a pleasant experience all around. going to setup my buddies aerotank to run on a mech also as he has an MVP hates it and likes the size of a carto on a mech.

If you really like regulated, just grab an evolve kick2.. It goes to 15 watts. The original kick is max 10 watts.

I use my nemmy with an original kick at 7.5 watts on a pt2. Works for me. Vapor and flavor are fine. If I feel like going subohm, all I need to do is remove the kick and throw an RDA on. Tried it, didn't like it.

Prior to a couple months ago I would say there wasn't a different between the evolve kick and a clone. Whatever changed in my 2 years of vaping the evolve is much better than a clone. I would spend the extra on an evolve.

I just turned by buddy into an improved vaping setup.
He was using an ego battery and an old Evod style tank and told me it just wasn't doing it for him

He wanted to try my mod with my magma , and while he loved the flavor , it was too warm and too strong for him, plus at 0 nic, would not have done the trick either.
Airflow was also a bit too much for him

So I am letting him use my Vamo
Gave him my to PT2 with rebuilt coils at 1.4
Showed him how to re wick.

He was very impressed
Bought him a pack of replacement coils as well and having him go through the motions of refilling, quick spot dry burning and re-wicking

Went to a few local B&M here on our vacation stay in Newport Beach,CA, and found 4 flavors he liked.
Starting him at 12 and 18

He has cut down from 40 to 5 cigarettes in 2 days .

I told him keep smoking as needed, but one day that cig might taste of burnt cardboard, and then you'll toss that pack away, or maybe not, no pressure, just enjoy the vaping.

Was thinking abut getting the new Naughty Mini with the BVC
Any one tried these on a Mech, and/or have any pics.
With the steel tank replacement I think it might be a nice change from my RTA's

After reading this thread I got curious and threw my aerotank mega on my mech. 1.5 ohm was all I had on hand for it, but thought I would give it a go anyways. Aerotank has never performed better. It's not the production of my rda, but it's better than on my evic.

rebuild those heads to .75 ohm and that PT2 will shine on your mech...that's what I'm running now

The problem with the Aero tanks is that the positive pin does not extend past the atomizer's 510 threading.

When placed on a mod that has a wide center pin, the mod's center pin dead shorts to the 510 threading of the atomizer.

Very good point ...

What I did with my Aerotank Mega was to remove the positive center pin in the base of the Mega (it will pull out) ... then just file down the outer negative ground area on the base of the Mega (that's the part that has the 510 threads).

You don't have to file it much ... just enough so the center positive pin, when re-installed protrudes just a little .... (See photo below)

Here is the Mega on top of my clone 'Caravela' mechanical tube mod ... The tube mod does have a variable voltage 'Kick' module installed in it.

I'm in the "Kanger on a mech mod" camp at the moment. Have been for a couple months. I had got the Aerotank Mini as an upgrade from the Evod. When my old E-go twist batteries started dying fast I got a mech mod to save money. Also, I really didn't want a huge regulated mod. I was vaping at 4.0V before, I'd start out a little higher and drop a little lower with the mech. No biggie. My aerotank mini on a mech mod looked stupid but it was very satisfying.

I know I'll catch flack for saying this but after 3 days screwing around with a Kayfun trying to prevent dry hits and flooding I bought a Aerotank Mega. I work 60 hours a week and don't have time for an RBA right now. My local shop has 5 packs of coils for $12. That'll last me a month of chain vaping for hours a day. The mega isn't performing as well as the mini did (was hoping for the same vape with a bigger tank) but that's a topic for another thread I'll be starting momentarily.

I guess all this rambling was just to say that my Aerotank Mini on a mech setup gave me big clouds (not RDA clouds obviously but enough to piss of non vapers) and a nice cool vape with decent flavor. Most importantly, it was easy to maintain, small and lightweight. Yes a regulated mod would be nice but this works. It's not the most popular setup but it not the "wrong" equipment either. I'm glad others are finding it helpful enough to stay off the analogs. Cheers.
