If this is in the wrong place, mods, please move it.

As of yesterday, I went to order some merchandise from a suppliers website. Every time I go to add something to the cart, it tells me my cart is empty. What I've noticed is that its only happening with certain sites that look the same and use the same "add to cart" function. For instance, if you go to vapor4life.com and then cigeasy.com, you'll notice they use the same formats. So its only sites that look like those two. Anyone know what the problem could be? I had my wife try to order stuff from her work computer and it worked fine. I have not intentionally disabled java or cookies and wouldnt know how to check if I did. I am running windows XP......... HELP!!! I need to order stuff!!!!

Just at first glance Pete, sounds like whatever web browser you are using doesnt have cookies enabled. Let us know what web browser you are using (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.) and we can get you some instructions on how to enable them (if you dont know how that is). A lot of Cart Manager programs use cookies stored on your machine to track whats in your cart...

  1. In Internet Explorer, click Internet Options on the Tools menu.
  2. On the Privacy tab, move the settings slider to Low or Accept All Cookies.
  3. Click OK.
Afterward try again, and if it still doesnt work then either 1) You have a security application (firewall, spyware blocker, etc.) that is blocking cookies OR 2) These websites all have issues with their Cart Manager programs (could be possible as they may all use a thrid party site for these.)

Ok, did as directed above (internet options etc)....no luck. I use Norton, which coincidentally has been giving me a "Risk Alert", and when I click on it it says to download new updates, which I then do. When it says its completed, it still says I am at risk... but anyway, like I said, my wifes work computer allows her to select merchandise and add to cart but not this computer????

Pete, sounds like you may have some underlying issues with Malware. I have seen a fair number of new(er) Malwares running rampant lately that are blocking access to Security sites and updates to most major Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware providers. See if you are able to go to the following address and download the free program Malwarebytes.org I work in IT for a living and use this program daily. It works WONDERS. Also, you may want to consider getting Microsoft Security Essentials http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials Its free and will work in conjunction with your Norton to beat down the nasties. On principle, I HATE Microsoft, but I have to admit that they did a really good job with this product.
Anyway, get MalwareBytes downloaded and installed if it lets you and run a full scan. This may take a while, but in the long run it will be worth the time. Peace & Good Luck.

Ok so...in checking my Norton account, I noticed that some of the alerts were saying they came in on Septmeber 2010.... I looked at my time and date at lower right corner and low and behold... the date was wrong. I can now add merchandise to my cart!!!!!!! Still dont know whats up with Norton not fixing the risk problem even though it says its fixing .... but thats not e-cig related!! Thanks you guys for the help!!

Edit to add: Norton just secured itself.... must have been the date being set wrong. Man I hate computers!! LOL!!!
