    Somewhere between here and there
I do not own both but there are other things to consider if you are thinking about buying one. For one the button placement is different. Also the one has an electrical button and one has a mechanical button. The prodigy is somewhat of a legend and the xhaler is the new kid on the block. I have read many good things about the prodigy and do not doubt that it is a great unit. The xhaler is my first high voltage pv so I have nothing to compare it to. I do have a screwdriver, a dse905, and some nicosticks and can definitely say that high voltage is way to go if you are looking for a stronger hit and less time holding the button down. There are also many other good high voltage units. Have you narrowed it down to these two?

well i ordered a Xhaler today, so i will update everyone. I currently own a Prodigy and run it at 5 volts. I love my Prodigy at 5 volts, bottom line. I cannot stand the switch issues it has though, I just got it back from being repaired due to the switch going bad.

Other then that i have no major issues with it.

I guess there is some debate on if the Xhaler does in fact do 5 volt, the video proves it does and so do many people, some say it doesnt, i honestly dont know and cannot comment. I ordered one regardless because i hear good things about the X and the service is great ( i order HV juice from there )

If i had to change anything on the Prodigy it would be 1) the switch and 2) i am not sure if its the threads or the material used, but when trying to screw on the bottom cap and adapter, you have to be centered and have a good hand, because it will thread uneven very easily. I own a Adpatever and i could screw the cap and adapter on with my eyes shut with one hand. So i think its more of the material used ( aluminum? stainless? ) not sure.

All in all the, the Prodigy is sweet! and i am sure V2 will be awesome! and i am positive my Xhaler will be awesome as-well!

I have both the Prodigy and the Xhaler, so I can offer my take:

The short answer is this: I like both units for different reasons, but I prefer the Xhaler.

    The Prodigy:

    Pros:

    - Button placement
    - Runs under load at almost exactly 5 volts
    - Adapter reservoir for catching any leaking juice

    Cons:

    - High switch failure rate (with the electrical switch) - I've been through 3 switches in about 3 months
    - The lower threads on the tube tend to strip and crossthread
    - Performance drops off quickly when the threads or contact points get dirty

    Xhaler:

    Pros:

    - Adjustable voltage
    - Mechanical switch
    - Runs at about 5.6 volts with the resistor engaged
    - Seems to run consistently without constant cleaning
    - Built like a tank

    Cons:

    - the 801 adapter doesn't work with my BE112 attys, so I have to use a 901 -> 801 adapter on the 901 tip - with a staple mod - to make them work.
    - The button placement takes a little getting used to. That being said, I've grown to like it now.

    In Use:

The Prodigy is my 'go to' device for running 510 attys at 5 volts. Since the Prodigy runs at almost exactly 5 volts with the resistor, it's the perfect machine for feeding my 510's. The Xhaler with the resistor engaged runs a bit higher, at about 5.6 volts. This is too harsh with my 510 attys, and tends to burn the juice.

On the other hand, the Xhaler is absolutely perfect for running my BE112 (801) atomizers with an Altsmoke adapter on the 901 tip. It hits about 5.6 volts with the resistor engaged, which powers the 801 beautifully. Also, once the batteries start to fade a bit I just unscrew the bottom cap and I'm good to go for another few hours. It's an excellent design, and it works flawlessly for me.

In short, both are great devices, but if I had to choose one, I'd have to choose the Xhaler. The Prodigy is certainly a great device for running 510's, but it is handicapped by its frequently-failing components. It just hasn't been reliable for me, which is important for what should be obvious reasons.

Finally, the Prodigy looks a little bit sexier as well IMO. Of course, I'll trade this any day for a device I can rely on like the Xhaler. ;-)

    Hope this helps,

    ...D

Haven't had the pleasure of trying the XHaler yet, but it is tempting. However have to say that I have not problems with the 2 Prodigy's I have. I understand that the electrical switch is the weak spot in their design, my Protege is at Puresmoker for a switchectamy right now.

But keep in mind that we are also talking about a discontinued model with the Prodigy V1, we should be seeing the V2 at the end of the year which should address all these issues. Steve has also going to have mechanical switch upgrades available for the V1 Prodigy unfortunately with no resistor option. I plan to stock up on a few of the electrical switches to keep my 1 5v Prodigy in service for years to come. The other will get a mechanical and vape away at 3/6 volts.

These devices only cost about the same as 2 cartons of analogs, which is a better investment?

Wurrd!!!! When in doubt, buy 'em both and find out for yourself, eh? You can always sell one off later and make someone else happy.

Loving my Xhaler right now and also have the PureSmoker 5v USBPass. They are both staying pretty busy right now. Oh, can't forget my Silver Bullet which has taken a pounding and is still pumping out plumes.

Exactly, the Prodigy 5v will always be one of my favorite devices since it was the one that finally got me off of analogs. Variety is the spice of life however, and as long as companies keep coming up with the next best thing...

Really liking the direction towards mechanical switches, less electronics.
