Yep...now you're in my neck-o-da-woods! You make it this far and we'll go say a prayer at Shiloh and then get the best damned catfish you've ever eaten!
I love catfish, hush puppies, baked beans and slaw, with either a cold brew or sweet tea. :).

Oh, MY neck of the woods features the Redneck Riviera, and the panhandle is frequently referred to as LA (Lower Alabama). If you're into swimming in salt water (burns my eyes) and fishin' and that kinda stuff, you'd love to visit way down South here. Better hurry though, the crude is just offshore. :(

Yep..have spent time all over the Gulf and love to fish and eat it too! Not much into swimmin' but put me on a boat..especially a sailboat and I'm lovin' it! And yeah...I wish I was younger and in better health..I'd be down at the Gulf helpin' with the cleanup for sure.

Truth be told..I was born and raised in Dallas, TX and we spent many summers on the Gulf fishing. I remember well and saw the damage in Port Aransas back in 1979 first hand. It was beyond awful. I'm hoping to head to Galveston next month and will definitely check stuff out while I'm down there. Several of my ol' buddies are oil workers and also fishermen so I'm sure they'll tell it like it is.

The Wrinkle Room on the Lake? Where did you come up with that one?

The clientele was - well - let's just say on the "extremely mature" side.
Hence, "The Wrinkle Room". Who says ECF is not educational? You learned
about The Stink Eye and Wrinkle Rooms today! Every town has a
"Wrinkle Room" restaurant.

beebopnjazz,

This is getting stranger and stranger. Before I moved to Newark I was living in Greece, close to Lake Ontario. My oldest daughter lives in Charlot which is very close by.:2cool:

Then you know about Crescent Beach Hotel! Also known as The Wrinkle
Room on the Lake West!!! A veritable ocean of blue hair and liver spots.

I've been lurking on this site for a couple months now. What I do no get is why profiles are so non-existant ? If somebody responds to me I would like to know who it is I'm talking to ?

I've been smoking for 25 yrs and I'm doing my best to quit!! I'm 45 yrs old ...

I would like very much to know (if I pose a thread/question ?) who it is that's responding to me. I'm a guy who will click on one's Avatar picture to get an idea who it is that's talking/responding to me (giving me advise etc...) but most of the time I just get a cartoon picture (or nothing at all) with no info about the person. I understand people are concerned about privacy but at-least (it would be nice) if you showed your age/gender. It would be good to know who it is I'm talking with - at-least age wise and if you are a Man or a Woman ?

Just my 2 cents

-Kris
Hi kgeiger
I very much understand what you are going through in switching to e-smoking!!
This is Missy I am in my 40's and have smoked since I was 17... too many years to count..lol I was smoking 2 - 2 1/2 pacs a day of Marlboro lights. I did not go cold turkey but used the e-cigarette to cut back and I loved the freedom to be able to use my e-cig in places where i could not smoke a reg. cigarette.
At about 4 month's i was pretty much 100% e-smoking :)
No tobacco cigarettes:)
I think the trick is finding which e-cig. works best for you and what liquid and not to be afraid to try different models. I use just about all the different models (510's / 901 / 905 )but at the moment my fav. is the Dse808!!
Like the ego alot as well

My mother who is 70 is not 100% cigarettes free but she is just thrilled as are we, that she now only smokes 5-10 reg. filterless cigarettes a day. She may never be 100% cig free but For her this is an amazing thing and she feels so much better.
If you have any questions with anything please don't hesitate to e-mail me directly info@iesmoker.com / or pm me here.
Just hang in there ... it does get easier.
best of luck
missy or Robert / aka Mr Drip on the forum

Just doin' our job, kg, just doin' our job !! I think we like you too, but to be sure we need to know a little more about you. :toast::lol:

Fair enough Jerry.

My name is Kris (which many of you already know). Born and raised in Tampa. Been married to a lovely wife going on 22 years now (wow has time flown by). My Daughter is attending college in Orlando.

The last 18 months have probably been the most stressed out I've ever been in my life. My Mother was diagnosed with Cancer in January of 2009. She lives alone, does not drive so me and my brother are her caregivers. Handling all of the scheduling of Doctors visits - taking her to and from chemo and radiation treatments and so on. Soon after Mom was diagnosed my older Sister was also diagnosed with Cancer. So trying to maintain my sanity and also doing my best to stay in control of this current situation (which I really have no control of) has been very difficult.

Last month my Brother-in-law (Great Guy !) died of Lung Cancer. He was 48 years old and had been smoking since he was 16. He lived about 5 miles from us. Hell we all raised our kids together. Witnessing (first-hand) the struggle and suffering he went through (along with his wife and son)...I told myself that I had to quit the analogs. I will not put my Wife and Daughter through that horror !

Shortly after Dave's death Deb (his wife) gave me his e-cigarette kit which he had gotten (unfortunately) too late to save his life. Well the rest is history. With this fantastic devise I now know quitting (for good) is no longer a pipe dream. (I know I can really do it !!) It's still a struggle to give them up but as each day goes by the cravings are less and less.

Thanks very much (all of you) for helping me with this new journey in life !!

Kris..thx for sharing some of yourself and your path that led you here. It seems nowadays that so many people are faced with cancer or being a caregiver to a loved one who has cancer or some other terminal condition. I helped my partner take care of her neice who lived with us for the last 5 yrs of her life. She died at 24 from Cystic Fibrosis. Cancer also runs deep in my family and I've lost many of them to it, so I fully understand the stresses you're under at the moment.

The most important thing I've learned through it all is to be kind to yourself. If you are a primary caregiver..you are being drained emotionally, physically and spiritually very heavily on a daily basis. You need to find some time for yourself and do something you can do that's not limited by time constraints, but that gives you comfort and healing. I know many times sitting for hours at the hospital the only way I made it through was to walk to the smoking area and have a smoke and just let go for a few minutes. I wish like hell that during all that time I'd of known about the e-cig. I always felt guilty for leaving to go smoke, for not being able to quit. I would of given anything to be able to not leave..to not feel guilty. I would of had so much more to give and time to share. I know right now that your time, energy and even sometimes your thoughts are not your own. And I also know how much those few minutes of "smoking" reflection can mean sometimes. Buy yourself a really good e-cig and some premium juice. Don't skimp on it. It will be less hassle and you can enjoy those precious moments with your loved ones without the stress, guilt and distraction. You'll also know that you're taking care of yourself and giving yourself more years and better health. These are the hard times..but there is a peace after it's all said and done...and there will be time to heal. Hang tough and you will make it through this.

Kris, a close friend of mine, someone who I had known since we were children, passed away from cancer last December. I saw how she suffered over the last few years until finally she lay on her deathbed, unable to speak, or see, only semi-conscious from the doses of Morphine that were administered to her every hour, to minimize her pain.

I had already quit smoking for over a month, when she died, but I vowed never to smoke again, even if they take away our e-cigs, I will never smoke again.
