But... but... but...

As a diehard technophile I must take issue with this. Yes, I was a smoker, yes I'm using the e-cig to quit, and yes I figure I've been very successful. That doesn't deny the fact that to the gadget-lover in me, the e-cig is indeed one very, very cool piece of technology. That's actually the reason I started looking into them, and the reason I found this site. I wasn't aware of the health benefits, and had given up on trying to quit smoking. Then I saw this beautiful piece of hand-held, battery-powered pure technology, and the part of me that drools over sites like Engadget, Gizmodo, and Newegg instantly said, "I WANT!" (Surely I can't be the only technophile here who understands that feeling?)

Oh, I feel ya. Not smoking is nice and all, and I like the flavors and everything, but as a self-proclaimed "gageteer" I just like playing with the darn things! Eventually I'll make a mod myself.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing when I joined... they really have no way to post much about yourself on your profile. It's really up to the users whether they want to put up an actual picture of themselves or a "cartoon" pic like you said. You can always PM the user and ask I suppose, but I'm with you that I would like to know more about people who post/PM me... SPECIALLY to know whether they're male or female - it's ridiculous they don't even have an option for THAT!!! Everyone's androgynous on here lol!! I've put my gender in my profile just so no one makes any mistakes haha

Well, my avatar doesn't indicate my gender. Neither does any of the information in my profile ... but, if the photo on my profile is that of a woman, I sure feel sorry for her.

I actually have no problem communicating with people in an androgynous manner. I feel it is perhaps more honest. Unless there's a remote possibility of a relationship, what difference does it make?

I know I'm gonna sound like an idiot, but I haven't quite figured out how to make my pic show up next to my posts! Where you edit your profile it shows, but when I post it doesn't. Not hiding, just inept, I guess.
There...thanks for the prodding - figured it out!

I still haven't figured out how to enlarge my pic so that you can see it better either.

I remember a thread you posted in where you posted pics of you, and all of them were very tiny. Are the files actually that small before uploading them? If so, that's a camera setting that needs to be changed.

Getting back to the orginal post

I do understand what you're saying in that you want to get good information from someone experienced and not from someone who using it as a hobby. Since most of us are in your age range we probably aren't that comfortable or accustomed to putting up private information on the net (as opposed to a younger crowd who are more used to it)

This forum is a wealth of information. Almost any question you have has probably already been answered a few times and by people pretty knowledgeable and intelligent. If you do have a question you need answered you'll find the person who answers it is almost always a veteran who takes the time to help out.

Using ecigs takes time and effort. I think you'll find very few people who take it up as a hobby. Many of us changed to ecigs because of health concerns or social and financial issues. There is a learning curve with ecigs as to finding the right model, equipment and eliquid I think this eliminates people who are using it as a hobby.

Good luck and congratulations on making a wise choice.

Yes you are 100% correct Zelda and I do concede. I'm the kind of person who when I meet someone I shake their hands and look them in the eyes. I usually can get a feel for a person on my initial meeting. That being said I know internet forums are not as personal as that so yes keeping a certain amount of privacy is of course a smart thing to do.

Also I tend to feel more comfortable conversing with someone who I can get somewhat of a visual of. Age/Gender etc... Certain things I may say to a Man I would not say to a Woman and vise/versa -This would more apply to if someone sent me a private message. Its just how my mind works I guess.

I'm also from an old New England family and you have to pry information from us New Englanders. Even our own families have to beat information out of us. I have an uncle who moved his family out of town and didn't tell anyone since it was his private business We had to track him down when there was a family emergency.

And it is confusing as to gender that I agree with.Sometimes you can't tell from the avatar. Pm them and ask. You'll find most members very easy to get along with.

You can also check their profile page. Some people post pictures and a little info about themselves.

We have to keep it small otherwise guys like Jerry would crash the forum talking about themselves...........

Actually, more that meets the eye will fit in that bio box. The input will scroll.

The ones that earn The Stink Eye from me are the people who have set
themselves as invisible.

Yup. ain't it the truth, zelda !!!! We have a walking path here, which I use a lot and over the years I have met some people, who I see over and over again. We have become quite friendly, but you need to use some sort of mid evil torture device, to pry just their first name out of them. I confess that I am just as bad as them, since I am a native New Englander.

My brother dated a girl for over 18 months before we even knew about her. The only way we found out was she called looking for him. She didn't even know who I was.
