At this point, unless there is a considerable amount of objections, we're proposing changes to the almond horn recipe.

The almond we've been using has always been a bit of a let down. It was an artificial almond flavoring that is VG based, is incredibly weak, and we've always had to use an excessive amount to flavor a liquid.

We are proposing switching to an almond oil. It's the same product that we sell in the dram bottles. It has a strong almond/marzipan aroma and we strongly feel this is the flavor that should be shining through in our recipes like Almond Joy, Almond Horn, Biscotti, etc.

Instead of automatically changing the recipe, we want to get your questions and feedback before we make this change. So we can answer any questions you may have as well as get your ideas. We want you prepared if this change is made, rather than just land it on you and risk generating a large amount of complaint.

Fair enough?

Let the Q&A begin!

Having eaten quite a lot of almond horns in my time, the flavor very much SHOULD taste more like marzipan. Having already mixed a test bottle with the new almond, I can honestly say, THIS IS THE STUFF. It has very much more the marzipan quality that I would expect from something calling itself "almond horn".

It sounds like the new flavor would be great. I have a bottle of Almond Horn, and while I found it enjoyable it did seem to be not very "almondy." It got put aside in favor of other, stronger TV flavors; I just realized I haven't vaped it in months. I'd buy a bottle of the new recipe. :) And now I'm going to pull out my old bottle since this thread is making me want some!

I've always found Almond Horn to be a bit of a 'lighter' vape. I'm a huge fan of almond extract and use it quite a bit in baking. If it is more along the lines of that kind of intense flavor, I'm all for it!

Right. If there was an almond extract liquid, that would be my go-to! I actually had a perfume custom made once that smelled exactly like almond extract and I LOVED it!

But see, it CAN'T just be almond extract. Normally that would be enough, but it HAS to have that marzipan quality to it to be part of the Almond Horn recipe. We've found it, it's affective now, we can now offer, with confidence our Almond Horn knowing that it tastes as it is supposed to. (and of course, sweetener IS recommended)

Sounds good! I had a few vapes of my friend's Almond Horn a few months ago and was more struck (and impressed) that it tasted like there was actully powdered sugar on a pastry and didn't really notice the almond that much. A marzipan flavor in that would probably be excellent! I think I'll be ordering a bottle of it. :3

Oh I know, Geoff, then it wouldn't be almond horn! I have the old recipe almond horn and it's pretty good. Can't wait for the new incarnation.

Also, along the same flavor lines, for your singular flavors, do you use Lorann's amaretto? Just wondering if anything has changed since I last ordered an amaretto doubler way back in '09!
