Since the RM (Rural Municipality) got our ditches and culverts along our road opened before the flood waters started coming, our yard didn't flood at all this year! Yippi!! However, I will put up some pics from last year to show you how bad it does flood.

This is my darling hubby snow blowing the ditch that runs thru the middle of my yard. He's opening it up so that the water can get away, and not flood out the rest of the yard.

This pic you'll use for a reference for later pics from last year, of this same area. This area did not flood this year. Hubby plowed it all out as per normal, and used the snow blower to get the snow away from the house.

This is the end of my driveway that the D6 cat opened for us. Before pics:

And the after pics as the water is just starting to come up.

Looking east: notice the ice jam at this end of it

Now since it the above ditches ran for two days before the rest of the flood waters came, our yard didn't flood. So in my next post I will post some pics from last year, that shows how bad it can flood. You'll also understand why I am so thankful it didn't flood like that this year.

That same driveway looking east. The water is actually going over my driveway at this point.

My poor house. Believe it or not, we had no water in the basement. Whew!!

This is at the front of my yard, and this area is usually high and dry.

I thought my stock trailer was sitting pretty. It was till the water came up over night.

My well. Yup, I hate pumping my well out and then having to treat it. We actually had to pump this well out every other day all summer long last year. We were that wet all summer.

And this is my bus. We played rock paper scissors to see who had to venture out to it, and get it out. Wuffy (hubby) lost, but only because he has the tallest rubber boots. The water was up to the first step in my bus.

So there you go, pictures as promised. Now isn't that just ducky? ;)

Those really bad flooding pics, we woke up to. The water broke thru during the night. I didn't get pics of the backhoe that had to come out and open culverts so the water would go down. We were too busy trying to get things to higher ground.

My well you see in that picture, we actually pumped this well out, once per week all winter long. Last summer we got just over 40" of rain, which is way way above normal for us. Normal is like 10 or less inches of rain. It's the reason we never put a kernel of grain in the ground last year.
