What's the right way to do a dry burn on these tanks? I just fried my coils last night after watching a YouTube the other day. What are you guys doing? How many watts, how many seconds, do you blow on the coil while you're burning and if not, how much time between burns? How any times do you burn the coil, and how many times do you dry burn the same coil a month. Thanks for the help.

I just wash the heads in the hot wata for a minute or two. Dry the flavor wicks by squeezing them in between a Vaper towel.

For the dry burn, I put on a blondie record first for reinforcement, then I put the head on, without the post and flavor wicks of course so I can see the coils and pulse it a few times. I turn on a bright light so I can see if the coils are clean. I leave my volts or watts at whatever I had it at when I took it off. I'm lazy lol.

I only let it glow for a few seconds so I don't pop the coil or singe the silica.

Holy crap! That is too much stuff for me.....

I have 2 evods, and a kanger pro tank, and I'm going to do my BEST to do nothing besides wash them clean w/ hot water, and pray that, and replacing the atomizer heads every 3-4 weeks or so, is all ill need to do :)

As far as i know you dont want to dry burn these as youll just melt the wick, and it will never work the same again. My advice if you want to reuse dirty heads is to buy a 5 pack, and when youre on the last one, boil the other ones you have for about a half hour(or you can soak in vodka for a day), and then let them dry on a shelf. Repeat the cycle and youll always have at least a good head waiting for you

You can't singe Silica. I run used silica wicks through the blue flame of a gas burning stove. They come out clean and white. So I don't see how you could possibly singe one dry burning.

I'm c&p'ing this from one of my ol' posts. It's for top wick clearos, but it should work for the Kanger et al (haven't tried it on any new styles myself yet):

My cleaning method for the StarDust type clearos (VNs should be easier):

Remove mouth piece/drip tip.
Remove silicone cap and tube with tweezers/needle nose pliers. You will now be able to see your coil.
Flush and rinse with water until the clearo has no remaining joose.
Shake out water and dry the exterior, including the connection end.
Pulse dry burn on a lower voltage until you see (1) individual red coil wraps with (2) no 'smoke' or (3) sizzling.
Let clearo cool.
Replace cap/tube.
Fill with joose.
Replace MP/DT.
Let sit for a few minutes to soak the wick.
Vape your face off!

Be cautious when dry burning. You can burn out the coil if you leave the power on too long. Remember to pulse on, then off for 3-4 seconds each at a lower voltage.

Hope this helps ya'll.

Please do note the (1) / (2) / (3) as that's the critical criteria for a clean coil! Good luck!!!

Some guy on here said you could, and my gullible self believed him lol.

I can't seem to get the hang of dry burning after reading and watching vids.. i have tried 5 times.. just did one an hour ago and it tasted like burnt chemicals.. I'm saving them for when i have the patience to rebuild.

Rebuilding is sexy and choice!

What is choice? Lol

I'm actually looking forward to rebuilding (successfully) .. the vids make it look easy but ...
Just placed my first order with wizard labs today.. I'm going to look for a cauldron on ebay to mix stuff in :D

Chances are you did not do it long enough. You need to dry burn in short 3-4 second pulses until you stop seeing any smoke/vapor coming off of it and the smell goes away. Be sure to blow into the coil when doing this to help prevent it from popping.
