Hey there :) very new to using an RDA and my boyfriend is building my coils and I'm waiting for him to teach me, lol. But I could never get a straight answer when I tried asking. What's the best way to prime a wick? I'm threading cotton thru the coils and I found a pattern that works well for my build. My juice has been tasting real funky lately and I've had to rewick basic every day because the juice is power steeping in my Atty due to summer heat. But even right after wicking my juice tastes off and I've changed flavors multiple times so it's not that.

I've been told to soak it in juice and then fire my mod for a few seconds but then I read other places to just make sure the wick gets soaked real nice and then use. How should I prime it?

thanks!

The funky taste might come from the cotton wick being too tight in the coil.

'Less is more' is the phrase commonly bounded around these parts when it comes to cotton wicks. If you are threading cotton through the coils then you want to make sure that when it is dry it barely touches the sides of the coil. When you add the juice it will then expand and will wick properly and make a decent contact with the coil.

I don't think it matters all that much to be honest. In my experience, I've found once the wick is wet with juice, it's not going to get much wetter and absorb more. So I just soak it in juice and start vaping. I've never found a specific priming technique necessary.

The first few hits (for me) are quite 'cottony' but after 4-5 vapes, it goes away.

I would suggest trying to use less or more cotton in your wicks at first as this can sometimes affect taste. If that doesn't work, try to source some different cotton if you are getting strange flavors you've not had previously.

Do I just let the juice soak in there or fire the mod a little with it freshly soaked which is what I was told? I thought doing that didn't give the juice a chance to work it's way in?

I don't fire my mod (freshly wicked with juice) until I'm ready to vape. I just make sure my cotton is saturated with juice, then I vape.

i will put a few drops on the coils once they are installed but before I reassemble everything. Then assemble it, and cover the air holes with my fingers and take a few pulls on it with out firing it. Idk if the last part actually helps (i feel it does) but thats how I do it. I heard some people say just let the juice get the the coils on its own, but, aint nobody got time for that

The cotton should be loose in the coil. I get a funky cotton flavor otherwise, even with organic cotton.

As far as priming, all I do is saturate the cotton with the juice before vaping.
