Thanks to Dani, I found a gallon of Propylene Glycol at my local Tractor Supply Company. I've been using some VG that I found at CVS to reduce the nicotine level of juices that I already have rather than buying more at 3mg. I'd rather use a 50/50 pg/vg mix to reduce them though so I'm wondering if anyone else has any ideas of what I can use this propylene glycol for other than eliquids to justify my purchase of $22.99 for a gallon of it. Thanks in advance for any ideas you can give me!!

I suggest verifying that it is USP grade PG. This page has more information on the different types of PG available.

Types of Propylene Glycol - USP, Inhibited & Industrial grades

Chemworld's price for 1G of USP grade is $80 normally:

Propylene Glycol USP (99.9%) - 1 Gallon

EDIT: You may also be interested in looking at Royalgate's post about this in the DIY forum. It's a couple years old now, but afaik just as relevant today.

Thanks for the links Scratch!!! I think I'll leave the PG at TSC and order from Amazon! Lol The stuff at TSC a was found in the cattle medication aisle but I will go back and check out exactly what it is,
With all the talk about formaldehyde in eliquids I want to be very careful about what I'm putting into my body.

I get the Essentials Depot PG and VG offa Amazon by the quart!

usually about $13 each and free ship.

That's what I'm going to get. I'm all about instant gratification and didn't want to wait to get it but after reading the links scratch provided, I'll curb that inclination! Lol

I tried the tractor supply PG, tasted funny, sitting in the corner now wondering what to do with it. Ordered a gallon from Wizard Labs figuring they have good stuff (also where I get my VG & Nic), with shipping it was around $45, which is not bad for a gallon. Buying the smaller bottles gets pricy after a while. When I need more VG I'll get a gallon of that also from WL.

You can make homemade soaps, homemade fragrances with essential oils (it disperses the oils better), and wood preservative. It is a form of mineral oil so it safe to even use on wooden cutting boards. In soaps, it helps the skin retain moisture. I have several friends who own boats that buy it to rub down the wood trim during winterization to keep it from drying out.

You are welcome. I have never made nice soaps so I am not sure if you need special recipes for the PG. Old fashioned Lye soap for living history doesn't count :)

I've never made lye soap...I'm a bit afraid of the lye mixture. I mainly do melt and pour. I decided to be safe and just order a more reasonable amount from Wizard Labs.

I think you made a good decision. Not just because the smaller amount is easier on the wallet, but you chose good quality.

My thoughts exactly. The wizard labs stuff is safe and I would never use a gallon of PG. Plus, I got some other things at wizard labs so all of the items plus shipping didn't add up to the price of a gallon plus tax.

Thanks to everyone for your help and suggestions!! You guys and gals are the best!!!
