Started with 2 protank 1's - broke threads off base of one (dropped on carpet - Vamo)
bought a Protank 2 (was going to just order a base but it was out of stock, everywhere) - gurgles and floods constantly no matter what head and even with 6 2mm flavor wicks (could barely get the stem to go back on)
found someone here with 1 NIB protank 1, 2 slightly used protank 1, and 1 slightly used mini protank 2 (1st version with fixed drip tip) for $7.50 each
found another website with NIB protank 1's on clearance for $10 bought 2 (what was left in stock)
took base from new Protank 2 and put on my original protank 1
Have no desire to throw money at Protank 3 due to coils are not compatible with previous versions

So I guess you could say I prefer the Protank 1

One little thing I learned, rebuilding heads for my pt1 and 2. They will leak/flood/gurgle unless you have almost exactly the right amount of wick material for your juice concentration. Both having too much and too little can give you these issues.

Start leaning towards "too little" and add top/'flavor' wicks as necessary. That way at least you don't have to rip the whole thing out to redo it entirely with a smaller wick

I have only used the PT and the PT II mini. The mini seems to airy or something. I do not like it at all on a standard ego battery. Even with 1.8ohm coils, it leaves me wanting. I like the EVOD tank over the PT II mini. The mini II is not as sharp and in-your-face vaping as the PT.

This is with 60/40 PG/VG, so I don't know if this will even be helpful to you. I did order a PT II regular tank on BF, but I haven't received/used it yet. YMMV

Which protank is best in your opinion? Im looking for most vapor possible, and using a k101/k100 mech mod. Im pretty new to this, so i just dont know what to get. I also plan to use 100% vg juice in them, assuming they actually work fine with it. Thanks in advance!

I still consider myself noob but I have to throw this out there.
I used a PT2 on the K101 and there were a few issues, heads up. BTW I worked hard to make this combo work for me.

1. I had airflow issues (no air) and had to back off the threading on the 510 connector this caused the threads to enlarge and ultimatly ruined the K101. A solution is to purchase the Smoktech airflow control adapter which is a nice addition to the PT2/PT3 for lesss than a five bucks at Discount Vapers.

2. Protanks seem to work best with VV devices. If you can build microcoil/cotton wicks a 1.3 coil will work great on a mech mod. If you aren't interested in building coils buy a kick or a twist device for your PT's.

Some good news... If you decide to build coils for the PT/Mech mod combo this is a great place to use those batteries that have lost their edge. The high peak voltage isn't the best for the combo, older batteries seem to work better.

Hey all, this is my first post! yeah! Anyways, I am rockin a k100 telescoping mod and when I first got it I picked up the kangertech protank 3 and loved it! 2 weeks into it I changed the atomizer and started have a problem with gurgling and sucking up the juice. I didn't change the juice brand or anything. I am using a 60vg/40pg mixture like I always have. Well, my temper got the best of me and I put that tank out of commission for good. A couple weeks later I picked up another protank 3 and was having the same problem right off the bat. I took it back and got a protank 2 - same problem again. It is still sitting on my coffee table and I've been searching the internet trying to find a fix for this. I have been reading that kangertech has been having these kinds of problems, but I am curious if anyone else was having these problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the k100 as well. In gold/brass. I love it! I have the pro III slapped on top. It made all the difference in my mod. The power of the k100 plus the dual coils of the III is the perfect marriage.
I had it maybe 2weeks before I upgraded from the cartomizer option that was with the 100 when I bought it.
I keep a couple of them in my pack in case I ever need a back up, but I don't wanna go back.
I am vaping cinnamon spice to get me in a holiday mood.
That is another thing I love about the pro III. I can vape strong flavors that acryllic models can't handle. And because it comes apart completely I can clean it out thoroughly when I change flavors so no residue mixes and makes things like blueberry with a hint of cinnamon. :)

Love the Protank 2s. The stock coils can be hit or miss. I remember buying mine and both the coils that came with it were flooding. I purchased a pack of 5 and I'm on my 3rd one without a problem so far. Now that I'm experienced building genesis atomizers I am going to try and rebuild a couple of them. I also have a Protank 3 on order and excited to see what improvements I can get with the dual-coil setup.

Aw man, That sounds like a huge pain in the .... Everyone speaks so highly of them here and yet you have to rebuild the head coils or they don't work properly. :(

Also, The Protank 3 having new heads issue. Has anyone found an online store that stocks the PT3 heads at a reasonable price? I can't seem to find them anywhere at any price.

I must be super lucky. The only protank head issues I had were from the Mini Protanks I got from Fasttech. My first couple of heads had terrible dry hits and wicking problems.

The Mini Protank 2's and heads I bought from Sun-Vapers have given me ZERO problems. No leakage, No Gurgling, No Dry Hits, No Wicking problems. I have run 100%PG up to 100%VG through them.

Of course I clean my tanks after each use and weekly boil the tanks for 5 minutes.

idk, no issues for me with Protank 2 other than gurgling when the tank is almost empty. I definitely do not rebuild the head, but I do dryburn occasionally, and replace the wicks with cotton wicks. Takes 5 minutes.

I just did a google/ebay search for protank 3 heads. There are a number of places that sell them, but they seem slightly more expensive than the protank 2 heads.

They are more expensive as they are dual coil heads. Sun Vapers has a great little blog on them for more info.

What is the different between the Protank 3 and the Protank II.Sun-Vapers.com

Thank you! The price difference seems relatively minimal--$8 for a pack of five heads for Protank 2 vs $12 for Protank 3. What worries me is that I can get a protank 2 head to last weeks by dry burning, etc. I gather all that is impossible for the protank 3. Does that mean heads will need to be replaced more frequently? In that case, the price difference would be considerable.

The other advantage of the 2 and 3 is the glueless construction. This makes the unit EXTREMELY easy to turn around. You can disassemble clean and dry everything in minutes. I was sampling some Boba's in one of my mini's and wanted to switch back to apple. It took less than 5 minutes to clean, dry, dry burn and refill with apple.

This. It is very nice to be able to switch juices this quickly!

I run 70% to 100% VG in both the PTII and PTII Mini. One thing I do to help with airflow, is remove one of the 2 flavor wicks.

Umm, well it yeah, it did take a little practice, first time I tried cramming too much wick in there, hoping more material would prevent leaking, nope, more wick equaled more juice getting wicked than it could vaporize.

Next time, went too light, left too much open space and juice was able to "flow" right through. I ended up somewhere in the middle and it worked perfectly for me.

This is why I well never get a PT3, kanger's issues with stock coils and the extra difficulty of rebuilding those dual coils and also not making the coils retrofittable with the PT2, completely turned me off. Heck, I was even getting tired of pulling out the little positive pin and rubber insulator, since getting my AGA T2, I haven't looked back.
