I used my new Protank 2 for about 20 minutes, and the next morning when I pulled it out of the drawer to use, it completely came apart (see picture). I can't get the glass to sit properly again. I know they're supposed to come apart - but this much? IMG_1427.jpg
Thanks!

Yes, that looks right for a disassembled protank. It's a mini, right? You should be able to get it back together. If you are having problems getting it back together correctly, maybe try to find a YouTube tutorial that shows how to do it. The only thing I can think of that would make it not go back together properly is if an o-ring fell out and you didn't notice.

Center shaft is threaded on both ends...simply place back on, gently screw the top cap back to the bottom cap, if it doesn't go together, unscrew the top cap a few threads and try again.

Gently snug it down, don't crank down mega hard because it can crush the rubber gaskets on the top and bottom and it will leak past the glass

Ashao, that is a Mini Protank 2 . I have 4 of these. I have never been able to turn the center post in the top cap. Maybe all of mine are really tight. Check to see that it is tightly screwed into the top cap just to make sure. I had the same issue the day I bought my first one. I did not screw the coil into the base. I just set it into the hole, and tried to put the rest together. I take mine apart like you have it and run all of the pieces under hot water to clean them. I dry everything off with TP or Kleenex before assembly.

Assembly:
Step 1 - screw the coil into the base assembly until it is finger tight. (these are the 2 parts on the right side of your picture. If the coil is not tightened until it is fully seated into the base, the center post will seem too short when you get to step 4 and you won't be able to screw the pieces together.

Step 2 - Verify that there is a clear/cloudy O-Ring in each end cap that holds the glass tube. (I think this is your problem)When these are new, one or both of the O-rings usually sticks to the end(s) of the glass tube. If only one is stuck, simply make sure that that end of the glass tube goes into the end cap that does NOT have an O-ring. There needs to be one O-ring on each end of the glass tube. After you use the MPT2 for a little while, the O-rings will stay in the end caps instead of coming out with the glass tube.

Step 3 - Turn the top cap (the part with the metal tube) upside down, and slide the glass tube over the center post. The edge of the glass tube should be in the groove that goes around the edge of the top cap, and an O-ring should be under the edge of the tube.

Step 4 - Screw the bottom cap onto the center tube. Make sure to put the little raised part with the threads for the center tube facing down, into the glass tube. There should also be an O-ring in the groove on this part where the glass tube goes in. Screw this part into it is snug. Do not over tighten.

Step 5 - Fill the tank with eliquid. Tilt the tank at a 45 degree angle, and drip the liquid down so that it does not go into the center tube. Stop filling when the liquid is just below the top of the center tube (its upside down, so this is actually the bottom).

Step 6 - Screw the coil / bottom base assembly from step 1 into the bottom base.

Step 7 - Insert the drip tip into the top cap.

Step 8 - Vape!

Good luck!

Thank you!! I feel really dumb right now... but my problem was simply step 4 - I didn't realize the bottom part screwed into the centre post. Learning curve... :S Thanks again!

By the way, now that you know it all can be disassembled, that drip tip is interchangeable with most other drip tips. You don't have to be stuck with the cold stainless steal drip tip if you don't want it. You'll be surprised how warmer the vape can be if you replace the drip tip with one made from a less conductive material.

Just got a ProTank 2. Cannot separate the tank from the ends at all. I'm thinking I'll try cold/heat or even a pair of strap wrenches!
My wife managed to get separate the tank from the ends on her protank II without any problem. The only thing was.... all she wanted to do was take the bottom loose to refill the tank.

However, I'm thinking these don't come apart all on their own. Maybe the underwear gnomes got to it?

I've had two protank 2s before this one, one was an old one and didn't come apart quite like this, and the other was a knock off and didn't come apart at all. This is the first one that I've had that completely disassembled like this.

There are three official versions of the Mini Protank.

1. The Mini Protank 1. This one had a one piece tank and Pyrex assembly and could only be unscrewed at the base to allow for the head to be replaced. The glass and the rest of the tank assembly were "glued" in place like the original Protank. This version is "officially" retired by Kangertech, although some residual stock as well as counterfeit and clones can be found.

2. The Mini Protank 2 (v1). This one has user replaceable glass, however the driptip is a static drip tip that cannot be replaced. The drip tip and center tube assembly is one piece and the glass insert is sealed using a bottom tank retainer that is screwed onto the main center post. The glass is sealed in place by orings in the bottom retaining ring and the top of the center tube assembly.

3. The Mini Protank 2 (v2). This is the one illustrated by the OP. It not only has removable glass, but the drip tip is also removable from the center post assembly. The unit is functionally the same as the Mini Protank 2 (v1) except that you can replace the drip tip with any 510 style drip tip.

Personally I prefer the Mini Protank 2 v1 (number 2. above). It's less expensive, I love the purity of taste the stainless steel gives and it's one less o-ring seal I need to worry about....Did I say it's less expensiver????!!!??
