This is entirely opinion based:

PT3? I can't get past the idea that it uses a plastic tank. The whole reason I went for PT and PT2 was to get away from plastic. So there's that. There have been complaints about the draw on the PT3 being insanely tight too.

I picked up an Aspire just to see what the fuss is all about. What I don't like about it, just seeing it even, has made me put it in the "later" pile for now. I'm a 100 VG user and I don't see this working at all:

The draw is insanely tight empty. Not connected to any PV even. That might change with liquid in it, but based on what I see in the design I'm not counting on it.

It does have two holes in the base for liquid to enter the coil "chamber" - but they are really small. I can't see it working with anything but the thinnest PG.

There's other stuff I don't like about the design either. With a Kanger BCC you could vape it almost empty because the wick sits so low in the bottom of the tank. On the Aspire the holes in the coil thing are so high up you will always have about 3/4's of a ml in the tank that sit below those feed holes. In other words, it can still have a deceptively large amount of liquid in it - that you can't vape.

I will try it - eventually. But there's a lot I see in the design that I don't like the looks of.

Protank 3's tank is Pyrex, chief. You must be thinking of the Unitank.

But yeah, the tight draw is a bit of a dealbreaker for me.

I got an Aspire today (the eGo one)...I like it...lots of vapor on my VariMax at 3.8v with a 50/50 Zeus Juice Fuzzy Navel.
Seems to be wicking good, it is so far keeping up with my heavy vaping.
The draw was a tad too airy for me; I just stuck the end of a toothpick in one of the holes and broke it off in there..now the draw is perfect.
I'm interested to see how long the coils will last with my dragon - style vaping :)

Never tried the Protank..I heard how airy the draw was so I skipped it.

I just got mine today from Viper Vape and this thing it's fantastic. What really surprised me is that the flavor is not muted like in other glassomizers , i.e. if you vape side by side PT2 Mini and PT2 the mini will have the better flavour.
I vaped Aspire T3 BDC side by side with Davide BDC and flavour is same.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!

Another huge bonus in my books is that the coil lasts a long time and does not contaminate the liquid like the regular BCC, i.e. the juice has same color when tank is almost empty , doesn't go dark and yucky.

Is the PT3 available yet?

Yes it is available at a few online stores. Vapedojo.com and sunvapers.com I know you ask 100 people about the protank 3 and you will probably get 50 different answers. So heres my take on it :) I really hate to say this, but I was not happy with it at all. I actually emptied the juice in it and put it in the box that it came with and now its sitting on my shelf, probably wont use it again :( I personally like the protank 2 better. I wanted the protank 3 to work perfectly but unfortunately it didnt. I guess I will continue to rebuild and clean and dry burn my heads and use my protank 2 now until I found something way better. hope everybody has a great weekend!

I'm not sure which model of Aspire BDC you have, but I have a Vivi Nova design with the pyrex tank and the draw is quite airy, zero problems with 100% VG. The holes on the head are low enough that it can't leave more than about 0.5ml in the bottom either.

rounding third and heading home...
the aspire coil is a better vape by design- the pt3 was put out to counter the aspire dbc but it is just the kanger bcc with a flavor wick over the first coil and the then the second coil parallel over the first and more flavor wicks. with this design the top coil is prone to drier and more scratchy hits. the aspire coil has two coils getting fed from a carto-like sleeve material with no flavor wicks in between to gum up the vape. just smoother and much more flavorful than the protanks.
and rickajho- i run exclusively 100% bobas and wta unflavored(100%vg) and haven't had a single problem yet with wicking, leaking, draw, etc. like any device that gets its airflow through the bottom it can't be restricted but i put eveything on airflow controllers so that is never a problem. too bad you aren't enjoying yours as well as i and others are enjoying ours........

I totally disagree with this. I have the protank 3 as well as the protank 2 and the aspire. The aspire provides better flavor than the stock protank 2 heads but you still get that dry hit once in a while. With the protank 3, i am getting no dry hits whatsoever even at 11 watts. Full rich flavor all the time. Something i never got out of a clearomizer. Honestly, i wasn't expecting much out of the protank 3. I bought one so i can rebuild my old protank 2 coils and use them on it (yes it is backwards compatible). I was expecting a similar vape to the aspire but not as good, but the protank 3 so far is performing outstandingly. I vaped full tanks of 50/50 juice from top to bottom with no leaks or gurgles either. :)

After 5 days I'm not that fond of the Aspire. Maybe it's my liquid, but it's not as fully saturated as it would from an evod/Vapeonly head. The 4 hole head vapes a little better. Maybe it needs bigger holes, more filling, I don't know, but so far it's not working for me. We'll see...

I wouldn't vape higher VG than 50/50 on it. Just look how small the feeder holes are. It doesn't make sense to go thick. Even the big punches on cartos don't like thick juice.

My review of the Aspire is that it never gives me a "dry, burning" hit, but always tastes so bland and flat that it's ridiculous, coupled with very strange tastes with some juices (fish oil, salt, ect ect). It tastes better when flooded, but when flooded, the Aspire is horrible at sending juice straight up into the mouth.

It's the only device so far that hasn't given me a dry, burnt hit, but there's still something off with the design that's preventing it from giving me a full-flavored, saturated vape. I've used liquids from the thickest to the thinnest in the Aspire, and thickness doesn't seem to have a positive or negative effect - I recently tested a 100%VG juice from VCV, and it tasted better than anything else in it so far (but barely.)

I do want to purchase another pack of heads and do an alcohol soak, but I'll have to save up funds for that. Aspire has hit some type of chord with wicking ability, but there's still some design flaws that I think could be worked out. For example, I think one hole should correlate with the top wick, and one with the bottom. I think the top wick gets a little drier, causing a blander vape.

Again, I think Aspire has hit some type of production chord that is propelling the wicking ability over what I've gotten from tests involving products from Kanger, Innokin, ect ect, but something still needs vast improvement. Many good reviews though, it's hard to say not to try it. At the moment, it's the only thing I'll consider putting my lips to because it simply doesn't taste burnt, and I've been treating the last remaining head I have with no real care or consideration.

I can't get it to taste burnt and that's saying something. But blandness? Non-existent flavor? It won't go away.

I have a PT3, got it yesterday. Aspire should arrive tomorrow, so i can give you a comparison then.

So far, not a fan of the PT3. I like that its glass, solid construction, big capacity. I *dont* like the ultra airy draw!!! I mean, its like breathing through a 1/2" straw. Too airy- makes the hits cool and weak. Ive tightened the beauty ring up and restricted airflow as much as possible by that method, better but still sucks to me.

Vapor production is just OK- no better than my trusty ol' EVOD (which i like better, actually).

For that, you should just be able to snap a toothpick off in one of the vent holes.

I find the pt3 interesting, has anyone noticed a benefit to the dual coil setup?

I have had my Aspires for a few days now (one glass and one poly) and so far they aren't bad but I still prefer the SMOK pyrex Vivi Nova for flavor and vapor production.

And I do get dry hits with my Aspire Vivi Nova-S. I have one that I haven't used yet and am going to try that today when my Zamplebox shipment arrives.

... ? Reverse compatible? So i can just order the pt3 bdc heads and use them in my pt2??
