In lower ohms in general I find either a few primer drags, or a long slow drag let's the wick have time to gather enough juice to make it pleasurable for me. I don't know if I'm relating this in the right way, but a low resistance coil heats up quickly and needs to have a super efficient wick to go with it. A higher resistance coil heats up more slowly giving the wick time to pull liquid to the coil as it heats up and starts vaporising. I prefer a higher ohm coil for the general ease and flow of the vape. I didn't realize exactly how this all worked until I started wrapping wicks and coils for the aga t+, which if you read all the threads, people are touting super low resistance and how quick it is to fire up. That's all good if your wick will literally pump juice up the wick, otherwise you're just getting a hot coil fast for nothing. I'd rather give it time to have juice to vaporize and enjoy than burning a dry wick. Maybe someone with more experience will either confirm or dismiss my relationship between the two, but until I can roll a super efficient wick I'm going to run with a slightly higher resistance coil in my aga t+.

Every thread I create about the ProTank, somebody tells me to use evod heads lol. When I first got my protank I got 2 five-packs of evod heads also to try with it, and every one of them made my protank leak juice into the battery connector!! My friend had a protank from a different store, and he had the same problem with my evod coils lol, leaked all over.. Maybe I'll try switching the post from the evod to the KPT.

Thanks everybody for the replies.. What would make this a lot easier for me is if I had an advanced PV that would show me the exact ohm-rating of my coils, gonna have to upgrade from my 1300mah Spinner soon to maybe an eVic!!

Thats weird, I have 2 protanks from different venders and both take the evod coils without a problem.
Maybe you have evod knockoffs ? I got all my coils from discountvapors and never had a problem.

If your looking for a cheap VV fasttech has a vamo for under $28.00 with coupon "cpaste13spring"

I will second the Fasttech Vamo, ended up paying $26 and change, plus free shipping, got my order in less than ten days. Reads out ohms and has variable voltage and the irresistible wattage feature which takes vaping to new hieghts.

If your eVod coils aren't fitting and causing leaks it is probably the gasket below the coil, screw them in tighter or shave the gasket a bit. You could also swap out the Protank gasket and see if that works.

If you do not end up getting the provari go with the sigelei smax. It is better than the evic in many ways especially the volts and watts it can go up to is substantially higher. Also if you get the chrome one its built a lot more sturdy than the black and usually about a days worth of vapes comparable to my provari when using 18650s. Also the ohm readings and volt settings are damn accurate just comparing to my provari. Just my suggestion it is a great pv and its sad to see everyone buying crappy vamos or overpriced evics these days when in my opinion the sigelei blows them out of the water.

Same thing here. 1.8 Evod coils @ 3.7 work fine.
Gurgles when the level's low, weak hits when it's high.
Same results with the 2.5 the PT came with.

I ordered them from DiscountVapors at 1AM on a Monday and received them on Tuesday.
They're in Conn & I'm in Mass but they don't **** around.

I've also heard about the ProVarinatti haha.. If I ever get a ProVari, I'll gratefully decline membership lol

So I let the 1.8ohm coil soak up juice and prime for about an hour, gave it a couple dry drags, and just vaped it a few times.. It seems as there's definitely less vapor and flavor than a brand new 2.5ohm coil would give me, the flavor almost seems slightly muted maybe a slight plastic-taste that the T3 would give me?? Maybe I should've let the coil soak in distilled water and dry out before I fired it up..

Uggghh, I wish I didn't order 20 of these 1.8s and only 5 of the 2.6s..... I guess it's not that bad. Does anybody wanna trade?? lol

Did you pull that top wick off? I hated the flavor of my ProTanks until I removed that wick. I don't know why they build the heads that way. it is really kinda stupid if you ask me. They should have made a slightly larger wick and not laid one across the top of the coil.

I make my own atty's for the Protank using 3mm silica wick and 4 wraps of Kanthal 32 gauge and no Flavor wicks, this gives me about 1.7-1.8ohms. I'm getting tons of vapor and ten times the flavor. Try pulling a Flavor wick, (there are two).

I've been rebuilding mine staight out of the box since day one. Decided this evening to do a build without top wicks based on your post.

Running an oval 6 wrap 32ga 2.2ohm Nichrome with hemp wick. Just outstanding!

BTW. Pro Tank with EVOD head and stem...no leaks, better draw for me.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! :)
I got these coils from discountvapers (and was very satisfied with their prices, fast shipping, and service; probably will stick with them from now on).. The 1.8ohm coil seems to be giving me good vapor like the 2.5s were, the flavor seems to be coming back too (maybe slightly different), I may have just needed to break it in a bit.

.. dtrud0h Yes, that makes sense thanks. I actually did read a few threads about RBA's and wrapping coils and wicks yourself and have been thinking about trying out an RBA/RDA myself eventually, saw how some people were wrapping their coils to like 0.1ohms or something crazy like that! I would love to try a low-ohm device if the wicks could handle it, and have really been wanting to try out an RBA in general after what I've read and the videos of seen.. The good ones seem like straight fog machines!! And I love lotss of thick concentrated vapor when I vape

.. VapRLady, thanks for the input! I realllyyy need to get around to rebuilding my own ProTank coils and such, it seems like everybody agrees that building your own coils gives you the absolute best flavor and vapor, and would be so much cheaper. Maybe I'll finally purchase some Kanthal wire and some wick on my next purchase..

.. lynch, you could actually be right.. I made my last online purchase from ivape.net, this is when I got my Protank and eVod coils to go with it, I don't own an eVod myself but they were out of stock on Protank coils at the time.. Maybe they were knockoffs?? https://ivape.net/index.php/Kanger-eVod-LR-coils-1.8-ohm-5-pack.html
... The Protank I got from there was only about $13 after using the 'vaporjoes' coupon code, it came without the fancy leather case, but still in the nice cardboard Kanger box.. But I did notice that the glass/pyrex on the Protank itself is somewhat flawed and uneven, I can see like a wave towards the top in the glass. But I dropped it a few times and it still works lol :p

And that Vamo deal seems too good to pass up, I may have to jump on that!! Thanks!

.. iLovesRedBull
Thanks for the reply, I'll definitely check out the Smax and that may be a possibility. I need to read into mods and APVs more before I jump and purchase, I'm gonna find out the difference between the ZMax, SMax, and VMax too lol.

Thanks for the reply! I also noticed that my ProTank hits a bit weaker when fully filled up, and sometimes gurgles and leakes a bit when close to empty. Maybe my 'Kanger eVod coils' from ivape.net (link above) were knockoffs? I'll be sticking to discountvapers from now on for sure, I'm also just a couple states away :D

.. Deacon Aegis
Hey man, no I haven't actually pulled the top wick off on this 1.8ohm, I may actually try that now.. Just worried because it seems my ProTank always leaks just a little bit as it is.. I'm pretty sure I tried pulling a flavor-wick off of one of the 2.5s that came with the PT but I can't remember. Thanks for all the help bud!

.. Metzger, Thank you!! I'm glad I'm not the only 1 that notices a difference in flavors with different resistance wicks at the same wattage! You're right though it could be a difference in the build of the individual wick

.. Big Screen D, thanks for the reply!! I really need to start rebuilding my coils like mostly everybody else does here, I'm jealous of the great results you guys are getting lol.. And I guess that would really give me a lot more control over my vaping experience!! Rebuilding will probably be my next step.

Thanks everyone! :2cool:

Hey guys, which resistance Protank coils (1.8, 2.2, 2.5) work best for you? I know this is usually a matter of personal preference, and I'm mainly asking those of you with variable voltage/wattage batteries..

Back when I was using T2's, I prefered low-resistance coils on my VV-battery, and usually vaped at around 8 watts; so I preferred the 1.8ohm coils and ran them at about 3.8volts (8 watts), they seamed to give me a stronger thicker vapor and definitely the best flavor than maybe the 2.2ohm coils @ 4.2volts which is the same wattage (8w).. Although when I got a Nova-clearo I seamed to like the flavor better on the standard 2.4ohm coil compared to the 1.8ohm coil, when I got the voltage right

Now I've had the ProTank for about a month, and I lovee it so far when it works right lol. I was surprised to find that I really enjoyed the 2.5-2.6ohm coils that came with the protank, amazing flavor and plumes of great thick vapor!! The only downside from the low-res coils I was used to using was that my Vision Spinner drains a bit quicker, but that's okay..
... But the reason I ask this question is because I just ordered a bunch of replacement coils, and wanted to see which coils you guys liked best for the protank?? I ordered a five-pack of the 2.5ohm coils, and 2 packs of the 1.8ohm coils; they also had 2.2ohms but I passed on those.

I haven't tried the 1.8ohm coils for the protank at all yet, so I'm anxious to see how I like them since I ordered 10 of them. I'm concerned that maybe the ProTank performs better with the higher-resistance coils and higher voltage to vape up the juice good, compared to the lower-resistance coils at the same wattage (lower voltage)

Thanks! :p
where did you order the heads from? Im looking for a good price to order bulk. Thanx
