I just ordered this for a topper for my k100 mod. What are your experiences with protanks?

I'm a member of the side of the aisle who thinks they suck. They're easy to maintain, easy to rebuild, and look nice on a mod. However, even after you've washed out the metallic taste, the cool vape and pinched flavor wicks will make every flavor taste basically the same. If you enjoy the prospect of sampling the hundreds of flavors that vaping offers, the KPT will rob you of that joy.
Yes, you can make them taste better, but only marginally so.
I'm told the K9s from Fasttech, which are KPT clones, taste much better, though I haven't tested yet.

Sadly, I have to agree that while I own these, I don't use them either. When I first got it in the mail I wrote a super positive review because of how convenient it is. I even ordered 2 boxes of replacement heads the same day. I mean, do I want to sit here and punch and prime cartos over and over? No. So the convenience of the Protank is brilliant. However, I decided they make the vapor too cool, they mute flavor a bit, and... mine both have this awful whistling/squealing sound that i can't stand. It's like there's a locomotive or a tea kettle 5 inches from my ear all the time. No thanks.

With that said, I did order some tank airflow controllers with 2-day shipping that I should get today. I really hope they make me like these more, because again, the convenience is awesome.

Also, it looks like there may be a Protank version 2 around the corner: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/440799-kanger-pro-tank-2-next-pro-tank.html

I was ambivalent about mine at first. I thought it was okay. I could see the convenience, but didn't care for the draw. I didn't have any gurgling issues. I usually use carto tanks, and at the moment that's still my favorite.

I started looking at rebuildables because I'd like to have some option if vaping supplies become too regulated/taxed/banned, and several people suggested I should try rebuilding the protank as well as exploring other rebuildables. So I got the protank back out to look at and use it while I'm waiting for my supplies, and I find it's growing on me. I'm excited to see if I can improve the draw and flavor when I start rebuilding, although the flavor from the stock wick and coil seems pretty okay to me. I mean, it doesn't blow me away, but it's not bad. The convenience is great, the replacement heads are inexpensive, and it looks fairly easy to rebuild. I look forward to reading the reviews of any new versions they make! I hope they make it with a replaceable drip tip, because I really am not fond of the built in tip that's on there. I haven't read any of the threads about the new version coming out.

Hey VapHer! I am pretty new as well and I just got one. I have tried the regular ce5 type clearos and I have an evod, my husband is stuck on the AGR tanks where you have to punch holes into cartos and he seems to go through a lot of cartos because sometimes the holes arent right. So far I pretty much like everything. I can see what some of the other posters are saying about it being cooler and it is definitely somewhat different because it is metal and glass. All in all I will definitely keep using it, but I won't be giving up the other clearos because I like to have so many juices on hand and cost-wise the ce5 types are more affordable.

That's what I'm using right now. Love it. It does take a few mistakes to start getting it right. I found that the real key to getting the holes right is how much you turn the screw AFTER you make the initial punch through the metal. Somewhere between a half to a full additional turn seems to work well.

I love my tank, i had 2, but I dropped one and it shattered. So i went and bought the Tatroe tank (at first top only) from cigtechs since its all SS. Turns out they are located only 15 miles from me, so yesterday i decided to drive over and check the store out, and im going to avoid rambling about how great the store is and how friendly everyone is, i ended up buying some juice and their base for the Tatroe tank (so i now have one complete Tatroe tank, one ProTank, and one spare PT base).

Some people complain about the airy draw, I dont find it to be much of a problem myself. I am very happy with the PT, it produces loads of vapor and excelent flavor. Its pretty easy to clean out, i havent had coil problems like others have said. BUT let me tell you this. If you are prone to dropping things, buy the Tatroe tank from cigtechs, it wont break when you drop it. The next tank I will buy will probably be either an AGA or an RSST, but I am a huge fan of the PT (but i would suggest ponying up the extra cash for the tatroe, its SS, not plated brass and pyrex, so it will never break on you, plus you can use your own drip tip.)

I have heard reports of people having the base of their PT breaking on them, with the threaded part still in their mod. The base cigtechs makes is SS, not a problem, and it has a warranty.

The protank is an EXCELLENT tank, I love mine. But when im doing anything where I may drop my setup, I throw the Tatroe on there for safety. (Also, side note: I now have a Tatroe tank, with Tatroe base, and a PT with stock base, I dont notice too much of a difference in draw between the two, marginal difference, but i bought the base for the durability, not because i thought the draw was too airy)

I've been running 4 ProTanks in different juice rotations for a few months now, and since I learned to rebuild them, especially with a micro-coil, I've been enjoying them a lot more. I get a bit more flavor on an RDA, but so far have come close to perfect for me on a ProTank, with a lot more convenience. When I started, the stock coils were decent, but not amazing... I had purchased 2 boxes of replacement coils around the same time, but don't actually regret that because I can use the extras to experiment with different coil builds and see what works best. I'm definitely keen on trying out the v2, because I like the basic coil setup, but I like the design of the v2 body better, with it's bigger tank, better shape (imo) and drip tip options.

I finally bought some 3mm silica wick & 32 ga Kanthal wire, came home and built my first coil, it came out at 1.8 ohm, I don't think that's too bad for my first coil. I took me about 10 min. to do it, I have 4 pro-tanks and 2 tatroe tanks, I like both, and sense they use the same coil, I need to try to do this. Sorry I had to share this.
