Protege and KR808D carts - good luck!

I ordered a Protege for my wife since she was tired of recharging and swapping out batteries every couple hours and I thought the Protege would be just what she needed.

When I got it today I couldn't get the cart on past a couple threads. I read the packing slip to make sure I ordered the correct adapter and it says "(KR808D/DSE901)" but I can't get it to work.

Maybe I just got a defective one but now my wife is upset because she thinks we wasted $100. So, instead of making her day she is now mad at me for buying this.

Could it be that one cart? I got some from V4L that wouldn't thread on right. They sat a little crooked..

They work great with carts though....

On occasion its been reported that some of them don't thread, Steve will hook you up. Just turn in a ticket. Try another and see if any of them work.

I have a Prodigy and I really like it and also use it exclusively especially since the switch update. I have not had any issues with it since.

I tried a bunch of different carts and found one that would make little wisps of vapor but it doesn't thread correctly and I don't want to force it. She was just about screaming at me earlier because everything I buy works for me but whatever she gets does not. I can't win.

Its the threads on the carts. I had some V4L carts that would not screw far enough onto my V2's 901/KR808 adapter to make a connection.

Try some different cartos.

Same thing happened to me. I bought the 901 adapter for my V2 and 5 cartos. Upon receiving them only one carto would screw all the down. PS let me return everything, and I just recently received this. It has a floating center that makes the connection between the posts.

The only carto I have now works. I have a few more on order to see how they fit.

I'm sorry to hear your dilemma. Bob. It sounds like you were trying to do a good thing. I've heard good things about the Protege so hopefully, you will get working and all will be right with the world.

I have 2 of the Prodigy V1's / 2 Protege's and a V2. They all do cartzzzz...


The Blank Atomz that I got from PS have been by far the best empty carts I've ever owned.

Oh believe me, that is definitely an option at this point!
I have carts from V4L and Health Cabin and neither will screw on.

Where do you buy yours? I really doubt it's only the V4L carts since the ones I got from Health Cabin have the same problem and they all work fine on my Prodigy. Although I do have issues with V4L premium carts even on my Prodigy and will not buy them anymore.

Yeah, I tried that but don't want to overdo it and void the warranty by "cross-threading"...
I shouldn't even have to do that, it shouldn't be this much of a pain in the .... Is it too much to ask for a device that just works after paying a hundred bucks for it?
They advertise it as being compatible with the carts.

Hey Yukon-

Not all carts are threaded the same. We've had a lot of issues with this because the threading coming from China is so inconsistent for some reason. If you want to send a few of the carts you've got along with the adapter back to us, I can take a look and make sure it's not the adapter. If it is, then I can get it replaced and back to you. I'm guessing that it's the new Protege v1.1 with 3 piece stainless 808 adapter and v4l's new premium cartomizers because I'm having the same issue. All the v4l regular cartomizers work fine on it, it's their new premiums that aren't working, I'd actually talk to v4l about it.

I'm also wondering if we might be able to tap the center post up a bit since they seem to sit securely, just up a few thread from the post. I haven't gotten a confirmation on that yet (posted on the pure-smokers.com forums) so I'm hesitant to try. For now I'm just using my inventory of regular cartos and happily vaping away!

i've never had a problem with the protege & cartos. on my prodigy i have to crank them on there pretty damn good though.

Just got mine yesterday looks great ,, but same thread prob for my 901/ace adapter.. so after looking at it I can see why so many people are having probs..

heres a pic of the last thread,, which is compressed a bit.. so it wont thread any atomizers,, Im going to go dremmel it off in a min but ,, thats the prob check your threads,, it is hard to see but its there..

1st un modded 2nd slight grind now works perfect no drag screws right on like its suposta..
