Since 14500's are 50mm in length, and CR2's are 27mm, will the Protege fit two CR2's? That would seriously rock.

It's an attractive option because the Protege carries over that "this could be a screwdriver, vacuum, or soldering iron" thing that the Prodigy does so well making it great for public. I might get one anyway just for a public 901 dripping machine.
Naw, not yet. Can't justify it yet. Also, waiting for my ST-1 to get here to see how "publicable" it is.

Just saying, even though a five volt option isn't possible, and the batteries would not be protected, and it wouldn't be an officially supported configuration, it would be the least expensive, most desirable, and most "publicable" 6V mod if it does indeed work with two CR2's. I don't know how you'd keep them in stock.
on another thread with a similar topic, it was noted that the CR2 is slightly wider (I think .5 mm).
