I would think so, as we can use either in The Copper, right?

The question would likely be since this has a switch will it affect it?

It's an attractive option because the Protege carries over that "this could be a screwdriver, vacuum, or soldering iron" thing that the Prodigy does so well making it great for public. I might get one anyway just for a public 901 dripping machine.

I forwarded this to Steve- honestly I don't know the answer :( He should take a look at this soon...

Just saying, even though a five volt option isn't possible, and the batteries would not be protected, and it wouldn't be an officially supported configuration, it would be the least expensive, most desirable, and most "publicable" 6V mod if it does indeed work with two CR2's. I don't know how you'd keep them in stock.
