After months of resisting the urge to purchase a Protege, I crumbled yesterday and ordered one. I think it had more to do with the V2 Prodigy not opening up for preorders yet than anything else (very crafty of you Steve :)) I do have some questions about the Protege though:

1> I remember seeing a thread at some point asking if two cr2 batteries work with the Protege. I searched but had no luck. Does anyone know if this is possible? If so, is anyone out there running the protege at 6v & how does it perform?

2> Has the whole "switch issue" been solved? I thought it was, but now I see some more recent posts claiming switch issues.

3> Is the 2 to 3 week delivery an optimistic time frame?

Other than that, if it is as well designed and built as my v1 prodigy, I'm sure I'll love it.

Hey Frankly,

Here are your answers :)

1) No ... The Protege is strictly a 3.7v device :) I have not seen a single person be able to somehow rig it to work at 6v.

2) The main switch issues wasn't even the switch per say ... It was phenolic (the plastic piece used in the middle) After some use, it would turn conductive due to the current passing through it, thus fusing the switch. We have seen less then 5 plastic switches actually stick. There are still phenolic pieces out and about that we are still seeing come back. Otherwise, anything shipping from this point is 100% Delrin, not phenolic.

3) I assume to be 100% caught up on orders by the 2nd week of November. That means, even if you ordered yesterday or order a week from now, 1,000 units will be ready to go by the 2nd week of November.
