Ive been down to two cigarettes a day for a month now. This morning I threw the pack away to see how it would go. This afternoon with some girlfriends they all wanted to have a cig in the outside smoking area, I stood there for a moment, then moved on. I really expected to fall in the floor screaming for one but I took a few vapes and surprisingly I lived lol.

Im not sure what was taking my dumb .... so long, to finally push myself over that edge, but its done and Im digging it. Now to start trimming down the nic levels. This forum is more supportive than many realize so keep up the good work members and thank you.

Congratulations on taking that step! After 40 years of smoking and repeated failed attempts to quit, I thought I'd go to my grave with a cigarette in my hand and a pack in my pocket, but vaping and the support here at ECF got me off of them and haven't missed them at all, and its going on 9 months now, the longest I've been without in those 40 years. I know you'll make it. Sure feels good to be free of that prison. We're all here for you.:)

I kind of went another way with the Nic level thing. I was a pack a day smoker for the last 35 years and recently went to vaping only as well. I started off at 6mg nic and have stayed there since. I fiqured it would be a shock to my body at what ever level so may as well get the pain over with and start out at a low level. For me that has worked out brilliantly and I have not had a cigerette since July 26 of this year. (The day after my first starter kit purchase) I purchased a 12mg juice once and that was the highest ever. In the begining I was even asking my wife to buy me juice's and get some with no nicotine and peel off the labels so I did not know which was which. I could not tell the difference bewteen 0mg and 6mg by taste or craving.

Edit: Forgot to say "WAY TO GO!!"

Congrats!

One thing that I've found to be tremendous that I really don't think most people starting out realize is the fact that vaping delivers nicotine way differently than a cigarette.

I only bring this up because if you are hitting it like you do a cigarette you may not be getting as much nicotine in your system as you could if you did it with long slow mouth hits, more like a cigar, (not even needing to inhale at all if you hold it and exhale out of your nose). Doing this, and thus getting better nicotine delivery could increase your enjoyment and thus chances of never needing to smoke another cigarette.

Everyone I know that has made the switch (i.e. beginners) hits it like a cig (big lung hits) at first. You may have already learned this, but just thought I'd share in case it helps.

(NOTE: I tried posting this reply with a link to the thread in this forum that I found that helped me out on this topic, but apparently since I'm new to the forum I can't post links, even links within this forum - which seems odd to me but oh well. If you use the search feature of the forum search for the phrase "Vaping / Inhaling Techniques...." which is the thread title. It may help.)

Anyway, awesome job and keep it up!

Threw a half pack of butts out my car window (sorry for the litter but it had to be done) about two weeks ago. Making vaping more of a hobby than a habit is helping both me and my wife tremendously. Who cares how much you spend on vape gear if you don't pick up the butts again. Hell, I'd rather be broke than dead!

Pshhh, why are you making it out to be so hard? Quitting is easy, I've done it thousands of times!
