Just got my ProVape-1 yesterday. Since it came with the batteries already charged, I started using it as soon as it arrived. About 3 hours later the first battery was gone? At first I thought my cartomizer was bad, but then I put a new battery in and it vaped fine! I got the AW14500 High Performance batteries. I'm using 1.5 ohm LR cartomizers, which I understand will drag the battery down some, but I'm used to vaping all day on one eGo battery! The ProVape website says the batteries last from "7-10 hours of strong vaping"....So do I have a bad battery or is this normal for this battery?

This is from the instruction manual.

Provape strongly recommends the use of PROTECTED cells only.
New Li-ion batteries should fully be charged before use.
Do not mix and match batteries – use only 3.7 volt 14500-type Lithium-Ion batteries.

It may be possible they didn't have a complete charge on them. I am usually under the assumption as with anything that has a rechargeable battery in it, it should be fully charged prior to using it. Most manufacturers have a disclaimer for this.....

I put them on the charger as soon as I got them. They all showed green, which is supposed to mean they are charged, according to their manual.

It generally takes a new battery 5 to 7 rounds of use, then charge, use then charge, before it really charges and works at maximum capacity. The high drain AWs are great, and you will get a full day out of them soon.

Thank you! That is encouraging news! And BTW, I got the AW IC batteries. I know for sure in the future, I'll be ordering AW IMR batteries. Just waiting to hear from ProVape as to whether I can charge those on this charger, or have to get a different charger for them.

What charger do you have?

I've had the ProVape 1 and 6 AW batteries going for a year and a half, daily at work. Time for some new batteries on my end, but they do last all day, about 9 hours. I go the AWs from Provape when I bought the entire mod and batts. Wait, they were not high drains they were the battery upgrade you get wit the kit, so you have the right ones. Black and silver wrappers. (I stated that wrong in the previous post, I apologize.)

Check what the battery voltage is when the the light turns green. If it is a CC/CV charger then it is possible that the constant current cycle has completed and has gone into the constant voltage cycle. The battery at this point is probably holding around 70% capacity and the last 30% will take another 1-2hrs to complete.

I got the charger that came with the Beginner's kit from ProVape.

And instead of the 2 standard batteries, I got the 2 AW Brand Performance batteries. Actually, I got 4 of those batteries.
Yes, they are black and silver, and have AW IC written on them. Does anyone know if I can buy AW IMR 14500 batteries from SuperT and charge them on this charger? I guess what I'm asking is, is there any difference as far as chargers are concerned, between the AW IC batteries and the AW IMR batteries?

Heard from ProVape yesterday, and they said the batteries where only 70% charged. So I put them back on the charger and after a few hours tried it again. It lasted from morning until about 3 PM. So I'm getting there! lol! Yes, I guess this charger, even when it shows green, does not mean it's done charging. As a newby to this whole thing, I'm left scratching my head over the fact that a charger turns green when it's not really completely charged. Would one of those Pila chargers only turn green when it's REALLY done? On a positive note, I finally found a youtube vid that showed me how to check the volts on the batteries. I had the digital multimeter, just didn't know on what setting to put it to read the volts on these batteries. I'm not terribly electrically inclined! lol! But after watching that easy video, it was a UREKA!! moment for me! lol! So I checked these batteries and they are coming out at 4.1 volts...which is close, and this meter is probably not THE best as far as accuracy is concerned. It's a Innova brand.

Pila is a great charger, imo -- and worth it from what I've read here from some battery guru's.

It sounds like you are getting more appropriate times now for those batteries. And, they will last longer is you use a higher resistance carto. The red ones will most likely last less time.

Pick up a battery box and carry spares. If provape recommends the black and silvers, use them-----at least until you do lots of study on batteries. There are many battery debates. Right now I'm of the opinion, stay with AW Brand and use what the manufacturer recommends----especially if it's as well a respected manufacturer as Provape.
