I am thinking about getting a provari but want to use my 510 dual coil tank cartomizer with it, is this okay? Do I need to purchase a different ohm instead of the 1.5 I have been using ? Thank you.
Dual coil really doesn't work all that well with VV or VW. Now the new Provari (V2) works where the older ones ran into a problem with the amp limiter, but the fact still remains that all a 1.5ohm DCC is, is two 3ohm cartos built into one. So why not just use a single coil 3 ohm carto and be done with all the hassles. There are plenty of 45mm long single coil cartos that will work in your tank to choose from.
I use these in my DCT BOGE STANDARD RESISTANCE (2.9 ohm) 510 XL CARTOMIZERS

If you are getting a new Provari, Version 2. they will work. Version 1 Provaris were amp limited at 2.5 amps, so 1.5 ohm dual coils couldn't be used at more than about 3.7 volts. The Version 2 have an amp limiter at 3.5 amps, which will allow you to use 1.5 ohm dualies up to about 5.2 volts.
I've had my V2 for about 2wks, I'm still playing with it, but right now I'm fairly happy with single coils @ a higher voltage. It also depends on the juice you're using, tabacco, fruit flavors, pg/pv ratio, what tastes good with a dual coil @ 3.5V may taste like crap in a single coil @ 4.5V.
If you have the amps to run them, there's no reason to think that you can't use a dual coil on a VV. The Provari V2 has been shown to go to around 4.7V on a 1.5 ohm DC. That's enough for most people. The Buzz Pro will go to 5.3V. Very few will want to go higher than that.
I use a DC tank with 1.5ohm cartos on my Provari (v2) it works beautifully. I normally use it at around 4.0 - 4.2 with them depending on the liquid I am vaping.

I use the same setup here for the most part and get great results as well.
I also use some dual coil 2 ohm cartos as well as some 3 ohm boges and they all perform stellar on the provari - that is the beauty and whole purpose of VV. You can dial in the ideal voltage for any atty configuration and juice combo.
So the answer to your question is what you are using right now will work just fine on the provari. I guarantee you will not be disappointed in the least with your purchase but the decision is all yours of course.
