There are four things that a guy ought to have the best of...a pen, a belt, a watch, and shoes. A gentleman is judged on such things.

edit: and if you wrap lots of rubber bands around the pen, it's less likely to get swiped. :D

I'm still waiting for ProVari's that look like these do. (or any mod for that matter)

Was my joke really that bad?

What makes a pen cost $700.? Does it draw a flatter line than one from the dollar store?

And a one, and a two...

Perhaps my joke was a bit too esoteric. I was thinking it drew a flatter line like the ProVari on an oscilloscope. :) Never mind me, I live in my own little world.

I've never seen the pens PlanofMan is showing... what the heck are those? NM, don't tell me. I'll want one. Then I'll lose it too.

Those m'dear, are Montblanc high end pens. One is a 75th anniversary pen. Only 75 were made in 1999. The third from the left is on ebay right now for $88,000.00

I bet that none of those 75 pens, the finest writing utensils in the world, have ever been used to actually write with...kind of sad, isn't it?

Hrm. I'd write with it. Glad it's $88K, because that's way more than I'd spend for a pen:p. heheh.

So very true. The joke was dismal, but I explained it so they would stop explaining to me why the pen is so fabulous.
It didn't seem to work...I know, I'm being Cap'n Obvious.

I actually prefer this pen:

Inexpensive, durable, and refillable. Also comes in blue.
The legendary Zebra F-301! :p

Edit: I just noticed the Zebra F-701 all stainless version. Looks like I'm going to Wal*Mart tomorrow for an upgrade.

Oce, forgive those who know you well and didn't get the joke, it was a Pavlovian response. I read it and thought - Ocelot of all people could ask that question? then the lightbulb went on and I grinned. I missed the flat line reference, but I'll blame it on the fact I overslept this morning and hadn't finished my first cup of coffee. That was a good one!

I am not above falling flat on my face occasionally. It's okay. Failure builds character and better wit. Besides, ocelots are pretty low to the ground as it is. :)

The pen looks fine...but you ought to learn to tie a bowtie. If it weren't for that, I'd be stealing this pic to show how Bond accessorizes his ProVari. ;)

I'm just giving you a hard time. Looks classy.

Look for a revision in the future, I plan on tying my own bow ties now that I have to wear them. I hate clipons, but it was all I could get at the time.

I definitely agree with the bests list, though I might add one more thing, a wallet. Nothing worse than looking sharp and pulling out a cheap or trashed wallet. I highly recommend saddleback leather. Last wallet you'll ever buy. I know it was for me.

The watch is a limited edition Esq. Swiss automatic and real alligator band. Sapphire crystal, clear window on the back case, and a sapphire cabochon on the crown. Found it in a Movado outlet for a steal. My favorite dress up watch :)

As for the rubber bands, the pen never leaves my side. Once it's used it goes into a leather pen sleeve I made for it. Idle hands and all, so I picked up leather working some years back. Thanks!

So, I decided to dress up the Provari mini I received for Christmas from my wonderful wife for a little black tie use.

"Clean shirt, new shoes
and I don't know where I am goin' to.
Silk suit, black tie,
I don't need a reason why.
They come runnin' just as fast as they can
coz every girl crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man."
