I got my Provari today. The build, looks, features all live up to my expectations. I'm right-handed but for some reason I tend to switch hands when vaping. I vape with either depending on my mood. The Provari is heavy in my left hand, but fine in my right.

I was over-excited about the device and popped one of the batteries in it while letting the other two charge. I attached my last season's clearomizer to it to give it a test run and the vape was fantastic. Dial up, dial down, consistent vape -- it's just sort of an even-tempered vape.

Next, I thought, ok, let me use my virgin vivi nova. I switched heads to a 2.8, tried it in the Provari, and got an E1 message. I was testing voltage from low to high. I took the vivi nova and attached it to my Ego 650 mAh and it worked. So, hmm, what gives? I tried the same process several times and always got an E1. So then I checked the ohms reading of my vivi nova and the Provari came back with a 1.9.

Do I have a bad head? If so, why does it work decently with the Ego? Is there some trick to getting the nova and provari talking to each other?

From the Provari manual:

E1 – Short Circuit / Shorted Atomizer – If this error appears, remove the atomizer and replace with a different one
or lower your voltage settings. The ProVari will automatically reset when the problem is fixed.

Quickest thing to do is simply lower your voltage on the Provari to about 3.7 and test fire with the Vivi. It should work. If you still get an E1, I'd say the Vivi head is bad - throw it out and pop another one on. Better safe than sorry. That's reason #237 why the Provari is a great device.

I started it at the lower 3-3.5 range then I went up from there. I just kept getting E1 so I had a good vape using my other clearomizer and turned in. Swapped out heads this morning. I'm using the 2.4. Provari says it's 2.6 but it works. One video I watched, the reviewer said it took her about an hour or more to break in her vivi nova, so I guess that probably applies to the mini as well. I'm getting good vapor, little flavor.

It is real easy to move the coil off center in a viva nova or stardust head, just pushing on one side of the wick can cause a partial short. Take the little silicone top off and look to see if the + side of the coil is touching the outer shell of the atomizer. Make sure the coil is centered, and you should be in business.

Did you get the E1 at 4.8V? If yes then you have the V1 provari with the 2.5 amp switch. The V2 provari with the 3.5A switch can do 6V at 1.9 ohm no problem.

I have the V2 which is why I wondered why it wasn't working. I mean if it was 1.9, it should've.

Thanks for this. I'll do some tinkering when I get home. I wouldn't want to waste a head. And I do want to try the provari at higher ohms. :)
