I have a question about the Provari, specifically about the centerpin. This is an regular point of issue with many many other brands out there, is it one with provari? Pins pushing, springs breaking, etc. I haven't read of it happening on the provari, but I also am mostly reading it as an ego issue, though I just had to raise mine a hair on the LT even though I've been mighty careful not to over tighten. How does the Provari avoid this problem? When screwing in "just enough to contact" are attached devices all wobbly bobbly? If it's not one then I may be sold sooner than planned....

One of the little things I love about the Provari is how tight the centre pin is seated in it. It's almost impossible to move even if you do try to move it using a small eyeglass screwdriver or similar tools. I personally also use a sealed 510-510 connector or a 510-801 connector on it at all times, so that it does not get "juiced" up.

As for the wobbly tanks/cartos, I always screw my accesories on tight enough that they don't wobble, but never force the issue just to ensure a clean look. That is just asking for trouble, in the form of shorts etc.

How long did you have it before it needed service? I doubt I'll be dropping it from 20 feet what with working a desk job, but any info on possible issues is good. I read only rave reviews of Provaris but know that nothing is perfect. Pretty sure my mind is made up anyways, I'm on a fairly tight budget but think it'll return in the long run.

Well iv had mine just over a year now and so has my ol lady.. hers is mint besides the normal wear from use like the logo fading out. Mine goes with me to work and I'm a cable line tech so I spend most of my day in the air. It's been dropped more times then I can count. Only thing that has happened are the 510 part of cartos and attys break off inside and the pin got pushed in once. I beat the hell out of mine daily and if I break a 510 off I just remove the part left and screw a new one on and I'm back to vaping... Long live the provari!!!!!

Recidivus, I'd also recommend getting one in the Black Satin colour, as that is a Cerakote coat applied on the unit. Look it up. It's applied on guns, and is virtually indestructible. The chrome is just chrome plated, and the plain satin is just bead blasted steel, both prone to scratching etc.

+1 on satin black, that is what my mini is, and it looks great and doesn't fingerprint/scratch. The provari center pin is fixed, it doesn't move like some mods where the pin is spring loaded. I see people often screw their atty/carto all the way down, really cranking on it. I'm not sure why, I mean I do like the attys to sit flush with the top, but if it doesn't it doesn't. I screw just until contact, no tighter than necessary. If you do screw them down too tight, you will end up having to pull your posts on your attys/cartos.

Thanks again folks, will be looking at the satin black finish shortly. As far as pulling a pin on 'mizers, that's dandy they're disposable, I'm more concerned with the tube having pin issues. Spring loaded = moving parts and if it moves it can break. Screwing in to contact on my LT results in wobble that, while I can live with it, introduces thread wear I am looking avoid. I've spent enough money on bodies now, know what my preferences are, and am in the market for something more durable/advanced.

Next after this is going rebuildable, starting low/mid end to get into the swing and (many) months later will invest in something more long term if required.

Hello Vapers.

I was wondering if any "Provapers" could answer my two dawning questions.

1. My Provari is my baby and I treat it like Smeegal treats the ring. I noticed my center pin is scratched. Not like deep gashes but from screwing tanks on and off there is a ring. I thought it might just be gunk so like a fool I tried to scratch it off and ended up scratching lines into the pin. Is this okay? Or normal? It fires divinely but as always my OCD is just causing me to be concerned.

2. Can I pour 99% alcohol in the center pin connection? I tried dripping for the first time and got it all gunked up and my normal Q-tip cleanings can't reach the deep crevices around the pin. There's even a few pieces of lint. :/

What's done is done, but I think you may be a prime candidate for using a sealed 510-510 connector on your Provari. It's what I do to avoid leakage and damage to the Provari's connector. Anything that happens, will happen to the attached connector and that can be changed for $2.00.

When I first noticed my center pin getting gunked up is after I found it wasn't performing as well as I was used to with no loss in ohms on the atty. I contacted Provari wondering whether I needed a new pin service and they recommended using a paperclip and rubbing alcohol to scrape the top of the pin clean. I did notice minimal scratching after removing most of the gunk, it worked like a charm & its never been a problem.

;)
