My wife and I were new Vapers a year and a half ago (She quit smoking after 23 years). She took a break from vaping to have a baby and, as a result, all of our PV's sat dormant for about 6 months. We are starting up again - her kGo's are running like champs and My one year old ProVari is doing nothing. I used it almost everyday for 6 mos and now its dead one month past the one year warranty. Any Ideas??

Fresh Batts are not even causing the light to blink when I screw on the end cap.

I would contact them just the same.

WARNING!

I poured 91% isopropyl alcohol in mine, shook it, poured it out and let it dry. My window clouded up pretty badly. I've heard others say theirs did the same thing. I ended up sending mine back in for a new window. So be aware that this can happen if you do this.

Never had to do this with mine yet, but the website does suggest 99% alcohol.

I do not like the alcohol idea. I know they promote it, but it's counter-intuitive to me. I would contact ProVape and inquiry about a cleaning/tune up. I'm almost sure I saw something like that on their repair page.

It may be counter-intuitive to you, but its common practice to use alcohol to clean electronic components. I'd have to imagine that if ProVape reccomends using 99% isopropyl and that's what you use, it isn't going to cause any harm. If you owned an original Nintendo when you were a kid, you would have learned early on in life that not only is alcohol safe to use to cleane electronic circutry, but its generally recommended. And in the case of the original Nintendo, it had to be used on the games and system regularly to make it actually work :)

I don't see what the OP has to lose here. They've got a ProVari that is apparently dead. Before they send it back to ProVape and likely spend some money to get it fixed, they ought to try all the ProVape troubleshooting tips that apply.

I'm pretty sure I spend 50% of my life between age 6 and 12 working with a bottle of isopropyl alcohol, q-tips, and a mini screwdriver.

The things we had to go through just to play Excitebike. Kids now have no idea. The worst they have to deal with is their wifi going down. LOL

the alcohol suggestion is totally valid, provape wouldn't suggest it otherwise. I have worked in the electronics industry for most of my carreer, and alcohol is used alot for cleaning operations in the manufacturing process.

and i agree with tommyaces, provape recomends trying it, it won't void the warranty, if there is one and just might save having to send the unit in.

Why someone has the window clouded up then ? Maybe the Isopropyl isn't all the same?
I've used Isopropyl 99% and mine is still good.

Isipropyl is not all the same. 99% is just that, 99% pure alcohol. Lower percentages, say 91 or 70 contain water, which obviously won't evaporate as quickly as alcohol.

I don't know why but after doing the alcohol "bath" as recommended.. my window clouded up very badly and I'm not the only one who's experienced this. I don't know why some cloud up and some don't. I was having misfiring issues and after the alcohol bath, my window got a milking white and it was still misfiring. I sent it back to Provape.. now the window is crystal clear, the red led is crisp and clear (it was kinda fuzzy before) and no more misfires :) My Provari was still in warranty when the misfires started and I contacted them but it wasn't bad enough to send it in. By the time I tried the alcohol, and ruined my window, the misfiring was so bad I went ahead and sent it in (it was out of warranty by this time). Provape didn't charge me anything for the repair or the new window. :D

Maybe mine clouded up because I used 91% instead of 99%.. I dunno

It's is likely at least partially due to using 91% as opposed to 98 or 99%. In addition, if afterwards you left it to dry sitting on the battery cap end, thinking that would help it to drain, it likely trapped in some moisture in that wasnt allowed to evaporate.

You gotta love service like that. This is what I always hear about people's experiences with ProVape. My super spaz friend on this forum has managed to break her ProVari twice in five months, one from trauma, one from a leaky Vivi Nova.

Both have been repaired for no charge, either could have been justified as a service charge. They just took care of it.

It was most likely the problem, the 91% alcohol. ProVape actually says its okay to use it if you cannot find 99% Iso alcohol.

I would not do that. ProVari owners should probably find 99% alcohol now, so when the crisis happens, they maximize the chances of success since there is 9X less water in it.

Here is a link with some affordable options for you.

What was the turnaround time for the repair?

Much of it depends upon shipping. Most of the stories that I have read about Provape's repair is that the device gets inspected and repaired the day it arrives, and gets shipped back to the owner the same day or next. So figure on a week including shipping there and back.
