Hi all,

So I just recently purchased a Provari Mini with a Kanger Protank & as I began to vape I noticed an odd flavor. It tasted a bit metallic-ey. I don't know where the flavor is coming from. I've tried the flavor on my basic ego's with Kanger Evods & the flavor seem to vape fine. Is anybody else having this issue? I also removed the top wick from the Protank as well as thoroughly washed the tank to see if that would make any difference but I'm still drawing in an odd taste. Anyone know as to why or can possibly lead me to the right direction.

Thanks!

Tee

I've actually tried using another juice on it (one of my older flavors) & it seems to vape a little better, although it's a 18mg 70/30 & the flavors I'm vaping on now are 12mg 60/40. The flavor I was using was a bit mild, it was French Vanilla from Pink Spot but I really liked that flavor on my ego/evod set up. Does that mean I'm going to have to get stronger flavors in order to get rid of that SS taste?

I've also noticed that this metallic taste from the very same juice, at the very same voltage seems to vary depending on the particular VV device I am using. I can use one VV device at say 4.2V with good flavor and taste and switch the same tank to another device at 4.2V and get that taste. Varying the voltage by .1V to maybe .3V seems to take care of things. When I use VW, I don't have this problem. So, it seems to me some devices and some juices react differently at the same voltages. Doesn't make sense really, but it seems to be the case.

I don't know. To be honest, I didn't notice the metal taste with my SS drip tips until someone posted about it. I actually kind of like it, I've come to associate it with vaping, but I'm weird. You are also becoming more sensitive to flavors as your taste buds recover from smoking. As an experiment put a SS spoon in your mouth and see if you can taste it.

I just read online that for SS water containers some people use a method of soaking it into vinegar & water overnight. I might have to try to this method, the taste is driving me a little crazy. I'm actually contemplating on getting another tank, although that would make me a little sad considering all the good things I've heard about the Protank.

Did you rinse the tank and coil out with hot water before using it? I'm trying to find the post from a ECF Vet who said you always should rinse with hot water before using any clearo, that it eliminates that metallic taste.

He said if you don't then it will take 2 or 3 fills to work out that lingering flavor.

I did & I actually put it in a little pot of boiling water. The taste is still there. :(

Words of caution: If you try this method, don't get vinegar on the wicks. I was curious to see if vinegar could be used to clean heads and ended up having to throw them away - nothing seemed to get rid of the lingering taste of vinegar.

***UPDATE***

Happy to say that the metallic-ey taste is no longer an issue! It was definitely the tank. I took it apart & boiled it in water AGAIN, after not being successful the first time, with the metal taste still lingering. Then I put it in a bowl of half white vinegar half water & let it sit over night. I read online that this is a method used to remove the metal taste from SS water canisters. But it worked & is now vaping great!! Hope this helps for anyone having the same issue with the protank!

Got my protank today loving it. Putting my vivi nova to shame.

I am having the same issue with my ProTank. It taste awful. I also don't like how light the pull is. Does anybody know of a way to block a few of the air holes? I love my Vivi Nova but I hate the fact you have to continue to rotate the tank to make sure the juice covers the wicks.
