Hi! Just got my baby last week and I'm getting the hang of it...except the check battery... It starts to flash red slowly and that means it's dying right? When do you switch it out to a fresh battery? Drain it till it's flashing fast or before hand when it's flashing slow? And what the heck are the numbers popping up when you click check battery? I've seen it go down to 2.0 but it's also started to die around 3.5. ^^;; help?

according to battery university, the best time to recharge lithium batteries is at 50% (3.7v). this will keep their capacity at its tip-top capability.

with that being said, i hardly ever do that. i run 18490s in mine so id be charging all the time. maybe if i had 18650s id charge more often. but at the price of AW batteries, id rather just replace em when they diminish capacity. i do charge when i get the first sign of a blinking light however. i hardly ever go to the rapid flashing light.

the battery univ info is more suited for more expensive batteries, like your laptop and cell phone. i always try to charge at 50% on those devices. and charging while web browsing (or any other high-draining activity) stresses your batt and should be avoided.

I have 18650 batteries that are a year old and like new.
My suggestion is don't wait for the flash. Every day just switch battery's at the end of the day or the morning. It extends the life of the battery when they are not drained fully.

Also a quality charger like the xtar or the Pila will pay itself off by charging your batteries properly and
they'll last longer.
