Ordered a Provari with extended cap since I have a billion 18650 batteries. I also ordered an XL tank from IBTanked with a couple extra smoke tech cartos until ikenvape gets there punched ones back in stock.

Anything I need to know about filling/using the carto/tank or using the provari that I won't figure out easily? Pretty well versed so advanced lingo is OK :D

Take a look at my blog E-Cigarette Forum - Baditude - Blogs.

I describe the method that I use for cartotanks, list of vendors with links that sell pre-punched single coil carts for tanks, the Safe Vaping Power chart to figure the ohm rating of carts that best suit the voltages you'll use, debate between dual cartos and single cartos, why pre-punched cartos for newbies, how to use a tank filling tool to protect your o-rings, and a detailed review of the IBTanks, etc.

Like Rebar said, give the T3s a shot just for kicks and see how you feel about cartos after that. I used carto tanks on my Provari for a good while, though, and they work just fine.

If you're new to VV mods, just be sure to start at a lower voltage than you think you'll need and work your way up from there. The power output on the Provari is very accurate to what it display tells you it's set to, so your preferred voltage probably won't be the same if you're coming from something like an eGo Twist.

As for filling the tank. If you got it from IB Tank, I'll suggest reading OCD's post on the thingy. You can laugh but it really does work great for getting the carto primed for first use. They make a great product and I've got 7 of their tanks so far. Also I suggest reading what Baditude has about carto/tanks. Lots of good information from him............Remember to set your voltage low when you first start to use the Provari. Check your resistance and then adjust from their. Your gonna enjoy it.

I have experience with VV mods and bad experiences with Carto's. My wife uses a carto/tank setup though and it seems pretty idiot proof. My biggest concern right now is making sure that the carto doesn't get fried right away, and that it feeds properly which I guess will involve me punching the tiny holes Smoketech's are suppose to have. I plan on just using something I have around the house like a hammer, nail, and clamp to accomplish this I hope its ok that way.

Thanks for all the links I did my fair share of research before going this route. It is honestly a backup for my REO as I threw away or gave away most my other vaping gear other than a couple home made deals.

Is there a really good carto that I can use with this tank and not have to punch it further? I <3 Ikenvape but they are out of stock and obviously I have no experience using their carto's with the IBTank or a Provari. Would like to just find one that is plug and play and just buy a ton of them, not into messing around with stuff that much anymore I like my vaping as simple as possible.

Edit: Read the articles, great stuff. Seems like things haven't really changed much over the years I just hope tank feeding cartos is better than my previous experiences. Wondering if I shouldn't have ordered extra springs for my Provari, I did for my Reo and have never needed them.

I also have 2 pro vari's on the way a satin black with extension tube for me a satin pink for my wife. They are our anniversary presents to each other, so I'm just as excited as you. As far as the T3 and the vivi novas and bottom coil clears in general I have never had a great experience with any of them. I have and prob always use a mom and pop vapor shop tank and boge 3.0 cardos. I punch a new one every sunday and I'm good all week, we both vape 4 - 5 mils a day so I'm ok with them going for a week of solid vaping. I know that was a bunch of cash at one time but damn they sure do look sharp.

I have been using the SmokeTech Ressurector cartos at 3 ohms with 2 holes pre punched. Seem to be working okay for me so far:) Crystal Clear Vaping. They also shipped fast.

I am not an expert. These are the only cartos I have used so far.

Congrats on the Provari and the IBT tank. You are going to like it.

I always stock up on the Ikenvape Platinums and 510 Fusions punched when they are available. That's why there are never any left for Ocelot and SuzyQ. :p

Before I switched to Ikenvape carts, I used the Smoktek 3.0 ohm single coils, 1 & 2 holed. Never had to punch larger or more holes for any juice, other than Boba's Bounty. They are now my backup carts; recommended if you can't get IKE's.

Not sure how close you are to any of the Volcano stores, but their cartomizers are all SmokTech cartos. The single coils they offer are standard resistance, 3 ohm cartomizers with a single hole punched, and the dual coils are 1.5 Ohms, also with a single hole punched. All are flanged for DCT tanks. They sell em for a couple of dollars a pop, but you can get just one and try it out... I have some Boge cartos that I really like. They are not pre-punched... I drill mine though, I find that using a saddle valve or any other carto punch distorts the body too much and makes it a pain in the .... to get the bottom of the carto into a tank. Slotting or drilling doesn't distort the body at all so they will slip right into whatever tank you want them to be in.

Drilling, IMO, gives you a bit more control over the hole size compared to slotting. Way too easy to go a bit too deep while slotting and end up with flooding problems.

For 50/50 juices I drill two holes and have been very happy with their performance.

Congrats on the ProVari BTW. I love mine :)

I'm less than a mile from one, but my wife uses them with her inferno. I'm pretty sure hers are 1.5s as they put out decent heat for an ego style battery. I will check it out if these don't arrive before the provari. What size drill bit do you use? I vape 60vg/40pg usually so extra feed hole is probably going to be needed.

I'm using a 3/64" bit... I've only found them that tiny in a dremel bit set I picked up at the Home Depot in Kapolei, although I'm sure they probably have them at every Home Depot. Lowe's in Waikele didn't have the bit set, and I haven't found them at City Mill either...

The SmokTech pre punched cartos from Volcano are only a single hole, which seem to be 3/64". So if you're gonna try one of hers, might wanna pop a second hole in there.

I'm using 2 holes just above the bottom cap of the tank and it works well for 60% VG juice, I have a couple of bottles of Heather's Heavenly Vapes juice at 60% VG mix...
