Hey guys,

I just received my Provari in the mail today. Working awesome with a Vivi Nova tank.

However, I tried using my buddy's brand new Smoktech locking cartotank. I was really stoked on this design because I hear they can taste better than the vivis. Also, I carry the device in my pocket, so I want to avoid the leaking issues that come with most cartotanks.

I could not get the tank to work. In order to get the tank to fire, you have to screw the tank down all the way. This cuts off the airflow where the bottom of the tank touches the outer ring of the drip guard portion, effectively creating a seal that blocks all airflow. Even unscrewing it a 1/4 turn breaks the electrical connection with the device.

Has anyone else noticed anything like this? I am not sure if the issue is due to poor design with the tank or with the provari. Does anyone know of other tanks with this issue that I will need to stay away from when using with the provari?

I had the same problem with my vamo. I now use a smoketek tank airflow controller and it works great. http://www.madvapes.com/tank-airflow-controller.html. i liked it better if i just unscrewd it all the way and used just the bottom of the controller.. acts like a extension. The lock tank is awesome btw. I have 5 of them

Don't know anything about those tanks. Never saw the need for all the lock down gadget stuff. Except for the polypropylene DCT tanks from Smoktech, I don't care for their tanks, especially if the tubes are the clear polycarbonate.

I've been using cartotanks for 8 months. I have over 20 in my collection. I've never had a tank come off a mod. I learned early on to pick my devices up by the mod's body, NOT by the tank. I stick my full size Provari topped with a cartotank in a front pants pocket and walk around all day, pulling it out when I want a vape. No issues at all.

I also prefer cartotanks over any string wicked delivery device. I had 3 or 4 Vivi Nova's and gave them all away to beginners that needed a juice delivery device. There was no comparison in flavor production between a cartotank and a clearotank.

Thanks for the responses guys. That airflow controller looks like a very handy device, especially for devices have a draw that's too airy. Gonna have to pick one up.

Baditude, good to know that the non-locking tanks will work for pocket carry. I was afraid they would not. Do your other tanks work fine with your provari? It sounds like it might have been an issue with the tank then...

Of course they do. I have tanks from IBTanked, Hoosier Vapes, Phiniac, High Desert Vapes, Valley View Vapes, Vaporfexion, and Smoktech. You can see some of the tanks in my collection if you click the link below in my sig.

I don't wish to sound like a self-promoter, but I've worked very hard to collect a lot of useful information on cartotanks to keep in one place for others to use as a reference when needed. These articles are in my blogs and can be found in the link below my avatar pic. Once there, just click on the article's title to open it. (New Members may not have access to these until a certain number of posts. I have made inquires to the moderators about this and they always tell me it shouldn't be a problem.)
