Does anyone else have a pronounced whine coming from their charger. I'm a sound engineer and this is bugging me to no end. (I think it shouldn't whine like this but on the Provari site it said to come here and post my problem... ) It's at 9.57kHz and 16.73kHz ~20db above background, which is quite audible. see pic

edit: The outlet is a regulated 119.9V at 60Hz so I don't think that the input power is the problem.

edit #2: I should point out this is happening without a battery in the charger. I don't want to ruin a battery by using it without knowing if this is normal for this charger.

My tenergy charger also whines. The difference is that the charger only whines without a battery being charged. Has anyone else experienced this? Before I put a battery on to charge, there is a fairly audible whining noise. It is fairly loud.

Ken let me know how everything works out. I'm interested in the response from Provape.

From time to time these chargers tend do this, Im in no means a genius when it comes to electricity, but it sounds like the current running through the charger. I have a Pila charger and i do not have any sounds coming from it whats so ever.
The sound is quite normal for these types of chargers, as always, keep an eye on chargers and unplug them while not in use, that goes for any electronic device.
not sure if this helped,
Ken

I have the Tenergy. But it seems to charge abnormally fast. It's nice having a 1-2.5hr charge time on all my batteries, but not sure it's good for them.

So now I'm looking into the Pila. $45 is pretty steep though, especially since I have a charger already that would be rendered useless. Are these chargers worth it?

I got the Pila and kept the Tenergy as a backup. Shipping it back would cost almost as much as I would get back. I looked all over the web, especially at flashlight fanatic forums (those guys know their batteries and chargers). The pila is top ranked by almost all of them. In my opinion it's a really nice charger. Definitely slower than the Tenergy but consistant as heck.
