PTN04050 and switch question

So just a quick question. Do I need to use a 3a or better rated switch with the TI 4050 boost chip or can I use a .5a little one? It seems like since it will put out 3a I would have to use a bigger one and that is what I ordered but would really like to use a smaller one. Thanks for any replies. ---WG

you will still need the 3a switch due to the power the atty/ voltage combo will draw. If you incorporate a mosfet type setup then you can use a lower rated switch. ( I am pretty positive )
