it's not JDW that are e-cig friendly, hopefully it'll be Greene King!

I'll try and get a list of the venues with the e-cig vending machines. Apparently there is another company targeting the pub market, njoy have released the 'weekender' which is a pre-charged e-cig with the equivalent of 40 cigarettes of nicotine in it!

Oh dear, that sounds like a false claim to me!
i think theres only 1 greene king pub where i live but even 1 ecig pro pub would be a start. i havent had any problems in pubs where i live in the high peak but i get the feeling if many people that dont understand what it is complain they will just ban it.
im considering buyng a hundred or so starter kits and approaching a few landlords in my town with a view to them buying some to sell over the bar.
the pubs where i live are on their arses since the smoking ban i expect they are willing to try anything to attract people back.
its not so much me wanting to make money (id be lying if i said i didnt want to make a few quid though) but i want to raise the profile of them before peoples ignorance of ecigs causes so many complaints about 1 person seemingly smoking in a pub and the bar staff get sick of explaining it and just ban them to save the hassle.

R.E. the precharged ecig that is equivalent to 40 cigs  ive yet to see one why do they bother with the silly claims it only damages the ecigs credibility.

OK here's an update from me!

It would appear that my prediction was wrong re. JDW being the first pub company to have a policy regarding e-cigs.

I received a company e-mail this morning that said that my employer (greene king) are trialling e-cig vending machines in a number of pubs. I've never seen an e-cig vending machine before so this one may be interesting.

The only problem with it is that it seems to dispense the bloody Gamucci Micro!

That'll not last long then!

I'll keep you posted

Matt
Any news on this?

Had a bad experience at "Maverix" bar in Hamilton, Scotland Ml3 7DR, I kindly asked the bar manager if I could use the e-cig and I then explaned in short what it was and demonstrated, the bar manager was very rude and very small minded as she tried to bracket me with manual smokers by saying

"If I allow you to use your fake ... in here then all the smokers will just light up and how am I supposed to deal with that?"

I replied by explaining that it was not a fake ... it was an electronic cigarette, but to no avail...... I was told if I used it I would be thrown out.

Sad really, I had just been paid that day and was planning a good piss up with my mates but we had to go somewhere else.....

Thats sad, i'll add a good note to cheer up thread, was out last sunday in Brick Lane East London, very trendy area (what was i doing there ? lol), every bar i went in, explained e-ciggy, not one refusal, i think the more forward thinking younger bars accept them better than old places, then i could be wrong as usual.

Sorry for the delay in updating - I've been having computer problems and it's also the busiest time of year for me at work.

We have apparently been having supply problems with the machines so no-one has got anything yet lol (makes a change for it not to be the e-cigs eh?)

I'm at a trade show in march so it may be interesting if anything shows up there. I'll keep you informed!

The licensing officer for our local pubwatch has told the landlords round here not to let people use them:( I'm not sure if it is the same for the whole of Amber Valley.
I've never been refused in pubs in Derby though and after reading this thread I might have to take a trip to Buxton.
I've discussed this in the past with a friend of mine who is a licensing officer & put quite simply, they do not have the authority to do this & it is not enforceable

Yep I know but some of the landlords won't stand up to them, I guess thats their choice though, obviously they don't seem to mind the loss of business.

As far as I know the licensing officer has never mentioned it to the landlords that don't belong to the pub watch scheme, so maybe it has something to do with them too. But seeing as how it isn't compulsary to belong to the pub watch if the landlords don't agree with the "rules" they could always just leave, like I said at the end of the day it's their loss.

tbh ask, if they say no, put in stealth juice, and pull out a penstyle with no led. then ur fine. you'll have to pretend its a pen, but thats not the hardest acting ever lol.

PS Camden Enterprize did not allow me vaping. Pulled out a crossword and a "pen" haha
Plenty of other Pubs in Camden that will allow it.
