Tomorrow I'm going down to the local B&M and getting a variable volt/watt unit and saying goodbye to these stinking analogs. I've been seriously cruising this forum for a week, gathering info to make an informed decision. My head quit swimming from info overload and strange terminology yesterday and things started making a lot of sense.

My thanks to all the patient people on here who hold newbs hands and pass out excellent information. I feel I am already miles farther down this road due to the good info on this site.

On a rock floating through space
congrats on the decision to quit. a couple of pointers for ya
1. drink lots of water. chances are you are dehydrated, like most people. Because the liquid base in ejuice attracts water, it will dry you out. Keep a bottle with you whenever you vape and sip on it. the dryness subsides after a month or two
2. don't give up. You will have problems as you go, bad juice, leaking atomizers etc. the people here can help you get it sorted.
3. don't be afraid to fall off the bandwagon. There are other addictive chemicals in cigarettes and you will still want them for a while. Many new vapers taper off instead of quitting outright. Keep your cigarettes around, but harder to get to than your pv (ex. lock them in your glovebox). Eventually you wont be able to stomach the smell, let alone the taste.
4. experiment experiment experiment. the variety of gear, juice etc is what makes vaping fun! Get a couple of different flavors you like, and a couple of different atomizers. spring for a variable voltage battery if possible. that way you can turn the heat up or down to your liking
5. buy more than you think you need. get at least two batteries and two atomizers. don't worry, in the long run you'll save money. look at my signature.

These blog articles should help you make an informed decision:

Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?

You don't necessarily need to get a VV/VW mod to quit smoking. A nice eGo battery setup (Spinner or Twist) will be just as effective as a mod to quit smoking.

This is my 2nd time around with vaping. I bought a Firelight kit 3 years ago, but they were such a poor product I spent all my time trying to get them to work instead of using them. Guess you can tell where that ended up...

I found them the other day, and unlike a fine wine they didn't improve with age. Amazingly though, 1 still would charge and feebly work. A lot has happened to the industry since, and I feel like I can get a vastly improved unit for less than those sputtering punks cost me.

welcome to the wonderful world of vaping. i hope you find like many of the rest of us that vaping is so much better than using cigarettes. i use the ego twist and just love it. i cannot even think of ever going back to regular cigarettes now... and i wish you the same. enjoy the journey on this wonderful and fun hobby

I have a buddy that was the Original Cigarette Fiend- 2 PPD +. Thanks to vaping, he hasn't picked up one in 14 months. That really got my attention. He let me try his iTaste VV 3' and I was really impressed with it. He's had no problems with it, and with the pass through ability, he can use it all the time. I think that is the model I am looking for.

If he can do it, so can I !

woohooo! congrats for jumping off the stinky bandwagon! my best advice coming from what i did to quit was to just taper off. dont have to stop smoking all together. i would have a pack and just vape on and my cravings for a stinky went away faster than i could have imagined. finding the right liquid and gear for you definitely will help you on your journey. like said above, dont hesitate to buy more than you need too. it always comes in handy, and drink water!! it'll help you with your transition to vaping and it's good for your body as well :p

everyone here is so friendly it's hard to come up with a question you think unfit to ask.. better to know then to keep on wondering.

just to give you a idea what it goes for online if you don't mind waiting a few days for it
Innokin iTaste VV (V3) Express kit - 101 Vape

think they only have white left

Thanks, danimal. I've been checking prices online and they are all pretty competitive (with a few exceptions.). I kind of like to support local business when I can, but if prices are too far out of line, I have no qualms about ordering online. I have a pretty good idea of what I will pay over online price so the local guys can keep the lights on and maybe take momma and the kids out for a burger. If they want steaks...I can find an online guy happy with a burger and fries.
