I've read up and watched plenty of videos about tanks and also punching carto's to make the hole bigger to allow juice to flow in smoother from the tank. I'm talking about the Smoketech ones that already have a small hole that are made for the tanks.
When I got my first DCC's the first thing I did was make the hole bigger, only because others said it was better. It seems like I'm learning more about these cartos everyday the more I fiddle with them and use them.
Well this time I swapped my used punched carto out for a new one and decided that I was not going to make the hole bigger and just leave the small factory hole the way it is and see how it goes.
So far it's been working out fine. I made sure that the cart was full of juice before I started using it and that small factory set hole is sucking the juice in just fine from the tank. I may be using less juice because of this.
Now I know that some juices are thicker depending on the PG/VG mix and some cartos need to have a bigger hole in them for this. The juice I'm using is a 50/50 mix and I'm not having any problems so far.
I think the initial problem that people have with the small factory set hole on the carto is getting the juice to flow through at the beginning of a new cart. You need to have not only juice in your tank, but your carto filled with juice as well.
I learned my lesson the hard way when I tried to vape a cart with little to no juice inside, and without a tank. All I got was a burned plastic taste and even after I filled it with juice, that burned taste never went away. Even though the cart still worked, I had ruined it by burning the inside of it, and I had to throw it away.
So now I only need to punch a hole if the cart I plan on using with a tank doesn't already have one.
Happy vaping.
