Below is just a part of this article:
How the EU Kills Thousands

The Vast Income That Cigarettes Produce For So Many
It is understandable why alternative solutions are not popular with those in power. If these solutions are fully implemented, by allowing free and unhindered access to the full range of THR consumer products, then one of the largest income and revenue streams in the world will be cut in half - and probably more, given time. The immense gravy train created by cigarette smoking will be crippled - a machine that generates hundreds of billions of pounds for those in receipt: several powerful industries, all governments, and so many government staff in positions where policy decisions and regulations are centred. Government staff positions will go, and tobacco and pharma's smoking-related income will start a long drop to a 50% reduction or lower.

The pharmaceutical industry, incidentally, earns exactly the same in the UK from smoking as the tobacco industry does. In 2011/12 the tobacco industry earned about £2bn from smoking and so did pharma.

It also clearly illustrates why the EU Health Commission pass such counter-productive regulations, which destroy public health while protecting the cigarette trade and the pharmaceuticals market for both smoking disease treatments and smoking cessation products. It seems that vast incomes for industry and governments are being protected at the cost of large-scale loss of life within the EU.

The problem is that their job is to protect public health, not someone else's pay packet. In theory, the EU Health Commission's statutory duty is to protect public health against commercial attack. Quite clearly, they take the opposite view. This isn't a unique situation of course, since the USA's FDA are regarded as the premier example of such regulatory-captured agencies.

I smoked cigarettes for 40 years, pack and a half a day. I tried patches, pills, gums and even hypnoses. None of the mentioned, help me with my life long addition to cigarettes. Then I found e cigs and have never looked back. These devices are truly saving lives. I don't understand why the world promotes a dangerous substance like tobacco, but is so hesitant to promote a device that could save and or improve, so many lives. Just doesn't make sense.

For the details on who is behind the ban attempts and negative publicity for ecigs in the US, and around the world, see the Legislative News forum: Legislation News and CASAA: CASAA - The Consumer Advocates for Smoke-free Alternatives Association (and join CASAA - it's free! :) ).

Well he may not be able to document part of it. BT has actually entered the world of vaping with Altria funding a study through their subsidiary Consumer Opinion Center here in Richmond on vape flavors just recently. I think RJR has already invested in Blu. I suppose Altria is planning a similar move if they are getting this research done. So BT may be an ally in the fight to come. Which is good for vaping, IMHO.

BP would be a likely enemy of vaping. I cannot document that, however.

Phillip-Morris was pushing the legislation here in Oklahoma that passed the state house but not the senate. They wanted the nic in ejuice taxed to death like tobacco. I think the were also behind the legislation that didn't pass in Utah. I may be mistaken about Utah but it was one of the BT companies lobbying for it.

RJR was actually the one behind it.

Phillip Morris/Altria is devloping something (nothing concrete yet), RJR is testing the Vuse ecig now (and is on our side sometimes), and Lorillard bought blu last year.

Congrats to all the new vapers here. If it starts getting hard remember to come back here for some inspiration. Your body may start to let you know that it's missing some of the other 4000+ chemicals in cigarettes including alkaloids other than nicotine. Do not give up and the worst will pass. Getting some extra flavours and increasing the nicotine can help.
