Pure silver wire for NR / R coil builds?

Hey all I just got an Ithaka and while reading about the builds .999 silver wire was brought up but didn't explain...is it used for a better contact like some of those silver coated center pins?

The .999 or pure nickel wire are commonly used. You should buy it close to the gauge your resistance wire is. The point is that the coil in the Ithaka is far away from positive and negative posts. It would become too warm and you would have a lot of wasted resistance.
