Pv or e-cig?

I know there's a thread on this but to no avail, I couldn't find it. Anywho, my question is, what do you call your set-up? Do you call it a Personal Vaporizer or an e-cig? I started calling it a pv but my boyfriend kept making fun of me. I hate calling it an electronic cigarette because its nothing like a cigarette except that it gives you nicotine and blows out clouds of vapor and looks like smoke. People at work ask me, "is that one of those electronic cigarette dealios?" And I just say yes because telling them its a personal vaporizer, they don't seem to understand.

I really hate calling any setup an electronic cigarette as well. I continue to call it that but after your post I think I will switch it to personal vaporizer as well. It's not a perfect name but it's much better than calling our setups an electronic cigarette.

I don't like E Cig not overly fond of PV I think I am going to cal it an ENDS "Electronic Nicotine Delivery System". I tell people I quit smoking but not nicotine.

I usually call it an e-cig out of habit, but I prefer to call it an electric nicotene inhaler.

I make a distinction between PV's and eCig's based on the appearance of the device. If it's meant to look like a cigarette, it's and eCig. If it doesn't, it's a PV.

...but if people ask if that is one of those electronic cigarette things I say yes.

I do this as well. Just because it's a term more people recognize and it alleviates confusion.

If someone ask is that an ECig I tell them NO. I am not found of the name ECig for the things we are vaping on. We as a community need to abandon the ECig term (nothing against you ECF) before we get lumped in with cigarette smoking and all the massive legislation of the tobacco industry.

I actually tell them it is a vaping device and I am vaping __________________ (Insert Wild Flavor).

Same here. I'd prefer not to use the term electronic cigarette, because it in fact has nothing related to cigarettes which by and large carry a negative conotation. It is an alternative nicotine delivery device, not unlike the nicotine gum or patches.

If I happen to call one of my mods an Advanced Personal Vaporizor, it always goes right over their heads, which I totally understand. I'll then add "It's really not a cigarette, but to help you understand it better, some do call these advanced electronic cigarettes. But its not smoke, just water vapor. And yes, it does provide me with nicotine in a safer system than real cigarettes."

Once people are given more explanation, they understand the distinctions and they think that it's pretty cool. They are generally impressed when they hear that after 30 years of smoking, its the only thing that has allowed me to quit for over 7 months.

LOL, agree with all of your posts. Another name to throw in the hat is cigarette replacement device (crd). Something else that is beginning to be a pet peeve for me is that some of us vapers refer to the vapor as "smoke or smoking an e-cig." Whenever I read it my brain jumps and shouts "I don't smoke anymore, I vape." It makes me think that someone who doesn't understand e-cigs, crd's, or whatever will come to the conclusion that we're still smoking, which we are not!

Well I have called mine an e-cig, I have also used PV when talking with others. I use an Ego style battery with ViVi Nova tanks and Stardust clearomizers. So for the most part my system dose not look anything like a normal tobacco cigarette. I guess it all just depends I like the ENDS (Electronic Nicotine Delivery System). I might have to use that one some time soon. I would not worry what others call it just let them see you using yours and enjoying it.

I have tried really hard to get away from calling it an e cig, everything Ive tried has failed with the exception of "Mod" so when dealing with the little 510 stick battery kinds I call them e cigs, when dealing with anything else (ego on up) if I call them a Mod people seem to accept that. When I tried calling them a PV (personal vaporizer) a lot of people thought it was like a humidifier.
