Thanks, I'll try it tonight.

I would like to hear some peoples' experience the the 510 USB passthru connected to a USB to cigarette lighter adapter. Versus the PCC, that is.

On the surface it would seem that the car adapter setup might significantly reduce the number of batteries I have to carry so the PCC would not be necessary. I should have probably asked this question two months ago :)

Wouldn't that depend on how much time you spend in the car, vs. at the computer, vs. away from any power source at all...?

For me, the PCC gets the most use, followed by the passthrough. Haven't taken any road trips since I started vaping, so I've never actually used the car adapter... But I'm in south Florida, so that might change if a hurricane rolls through and the power goes out for a week or two. At least I'll be able to vape in the car... ;)

I use the passthrough and the car adapter all the time. It works great. You can also charge the PCC with the adapter.
The plug for a cart part way on the end of a battery was suggested as a helper for the PCC and that works too.

I have only had my new pcc for a about 5 days so this may not be a permanent fix but here is my experience with it.
I think the pcc was designed for the joye specific model... now I cannot confirm this but one manual battery that I purchased seems to work ALMOST perfectly with the pcc. I have read and seen photos of a true joye 510 bat and the design of the connector to the atomizer is different from the other batteries I have. Instead of the small fake air hole like you would see in the auto batteries it is completely flat and makes a good contact with the pcc charging port. Also the joye's have been said to be a little longer, like 1/8th in. (2mm) and has no led. The battery I recently bought is the same length as my others but has the solid connector and sometimes I can just throw in there and work fine.

With the other batteries I needed a LOT more pressure to get a good connection, now this is my second one, same problem, the first one I could not fix this way but so far the second one has been reliable.

I went to the local 99 cents store, awesome place for cheep stuff that would be neat for modding with, and picked up some of the sticky back velcro dots. The dots were placed right where the lid would meet the back of the battery, it took 5 to push the battery down, plus one stretched from the front of the pcc lid to the others to push it back away from the lid when closed. I only used the soft piece of the two part velcro and it has been mashed down quite a lot so there is a bit of pressure but the pcc charges well now and the lid isn't too off kilter.

Good luck, hope this helps.

PS As far as charging the pcc in the car, motorolla was on the kick for a while of using a mini usb same as pcc for their charging port, (RAZR AND KRZR) I saved my car and 2 wall chargers, they make good companions for travel charging :D.

Edit : These chargers can usually be found at dollar stores as well.

YAY I can finally edit!

Well thanks for everyone's feedback. Typically I don't listen to advice verbatum. And this case is no exception :)

Other forum posts got me a little paranoid about the reliability/power of the 510 usb passthrough--the inline battery might be an issue for me. So I ordered a 901 usb passthru with manual battery. I'm hoping that when driving with my white 901 ecig and black wire will make me look less like a geek than I already do :)

If I can live without the PCC, I will. I don't buy new pants when I expand, so the PCC in my pocket is a pretty tight fit :)

If all works well, I'm thinking of letting another newbie borrow my PCC when he/she gets a 510 starter kit, just so he can stay in batteries for a whole day :) So your input has still been very helpful.

Thanks,
Dave
