I have only had my new pcc for a about 5 days so this may not be a permanent fix but here is my experience with it.
I think the pcc was designed for the joye specific model... now I cannot confirm this but one manual battery that I purchased seems to work ALMOST perfectly with the pcc. I have read and seen photos of a true joye 510 bat and the design of the connector to the atomizer is different from the other batteries I have. Instead of the small fake air hole like you would see in the auto batteries it is completely flat and makes a good contact with the pcc charging port. Also the joye's have been said to be a little longer, like 1/8th in. (2mm) and has no led. The battery I recently bought is the same length as my others but has the solid connector and sometimes I can just throw in there and work fine.
With the other batteries I needed a LOT more pressure to get a good connection, now this is my second one, same problem, the first one I could not fix this way but so far the second one has been reliable.
I went to the local 99 cents store, awesome place for cheep stuff that would be neat for modding with, and picked up some of the sticky back velcro dots. The dots were placed right where the lid would meet the back of the battery, it took 5 to push the battery down, plus one stretched from the front of the pcc lid to the others to push it back away from the lid when closed. I only used the soft piece of the two part velcro and it has been mashed down quite a lot so there is a bit of pressure but the pcc charges well now and the lid isn't too off kilter.
Good luck, hope this helps.
PS As far as charging the pcc in the car, motorolla was on the kick for a while of using a mini usb same as pcc for their charging port, (RAZR AND KRZR) I saved my car and 2 wall chargers, they make good companions for travel charging

.
Edit : These chargers can usually be found at dollar stores as well.
YAY I can finally edit!
