That is simple. I started with the 901 and just like you, it was never consistent. Switched to the Screwdriver with the manual battery and every puff instantly became as good as the first. Now I am using the Prodigy and it's just as consistent and good but with a little better throat hit.

That's all there is too it and there are hundreds of other members who have had the same experience based on all the positive reviews.

I've found the trick to getting a consistent vape with the 901 is with the power supply. While the 901's OEM batts are Ok at the start, their performance drops quickly after the batt loses its peak charge. A poorly performing batt in turns causes poor vapor production in the atty. A cheap alternative if you're handy building things is to make a modded manual passthrough or batt box. Either one of those will provide a better power supply with vapor production on par with some of the more commercial PVs of the same voltage.

My 901 is only about 5 days old now, but im not having any issues with vapor, mine seems consistant. Finally go rid of the "burnt" taste i had for a day(THANK GOD). But other than the burnt taste im amazed at it.

Hi I'm from Cincinnati.

I've used both the 510 and 901 for a few months. I like the looks of the 901 so I have kept struggling with it. When I started this thread, my last lame idea was to use it with the 901 passthru. Once again it was a disappointment. So the 901 is back on the shelf again. I feel like writing a "do not use" on it so I don't get some other crazy idea to spend any more money it.

On another thread, I had a lot of other experienced people help me come up with this really good setup for getting started:

- 510 starter kit (2 atty's, 2 batt's, charger, 5 carts)
- (2ea) mega power batt's

Total cost should be around $80, from US suppliers.

If you haven't already done so, checkout using your own polyfill and the spring mod so you don't have to buy any more carts. I assume you are already buying your own juice.

I am not ......ed... I know how to smoke...I have been smoking for 15 years!!! I might swallow something else but not cigarettes.

I'm having a similar problem and I know it's not how I'm vaping. I've tried both PG & VG and have had the same experience...massive bloating. I'm beginning to believe I'm swallowing saliva with the juice mixture and that's causing the issues. Also noted a lot more stomach acid. There does seem to be some stomach irritation associated with the vaping, or at least how I'm vaping. Seems everyone has different experiences.

I appreciate the suggestion, though I'm curious whether the screwdriver you are talking about has the same atomizer as a 901.

The Screwdriver comes with the 901 atomizer. If you really want consistent, high performance, then the premieres are the best in providing it, althought the 510 is a good little PV,also, but has very short battery life:

The Big Nine in Long Battery Life Manual Switch PV’s:

Screwdriver (3.7v): ecigscrewdriver.com

Prodigy (5v): PureSmoker.com - Home of the USA Built PV !!!

I would like a pv with a good battery but I don't want to vape on something that looks like a tool. lol

I looked through the list wv2win and everything looks like a tool except for the Janty which is really expensive.

I would like a low cost option that is visually appealing to a small person.

Maybe a 510 with a manual battery or even a manual for my 901.

I really do like my 901 the best (aside for batt mods). It took a while to get consistent vape. What I do is start with a fresh battery in the morning. And a fresh filter stuff. I take the old ones and put them in a syringe so I can put the juice back into the new filter batting. I use aquarium filter stuff that is like a sponge, it's blue. not the one with the big holes, the one with the small holes. I cut a piece 1/2 inch by 1 inch. Fold it longways and push it in using a paper clip. then I snip it off even with the end. I fill from the bottom up. I make sure I'm taking long slow drags, cause I find myself speeding up, LOL. But I get nice consistent good hits this way. But the batts only last 2-3 hours of good vape. On occassion, I blow out the atty only once cause it does collect fluid. And after 6 or so drags, I let the thing recover before I vape some more.

I started with a 901 as well and the batts seemed to be the key for me. Mine were auto's "back in the day" and after an hour of use, vape quality would suffer.

Found that the passthru would give me the best, consistent vape and I would guess the manual batts would help there as well.

I've since moved on to the JStick with the 801 (I love) and have made a 901 adapter for it and behold!!!! consistent vape on the 901 atty along with the beloved warm flavor.

Nutshell for me is the power - if you can get good/great batts you'll get good/great vape

My first e-cig was the DSE901. At top performance - great vape and great flavor. 7 bats dead in a month told me this wasn't working for me.
Loved my usb passthrough.... and realized everything the DSE901 could be was all I wanted.
The key was power. Consistant, every time I puff, no variation, not dead in an hour or a vape that's good followed by a crappy one.... while driving or outside no vape at all.

I bought a ScrewDriver. DSE901 attys fit on the one I bought and it's awesome. Bats last 6-8 hrs and only cost a couple bucks. Plus they're not DEAD after a week or two.

I've seen some awesome mods for sale at about $75 on the classifieds... laser pointers -and if I didn't have the SD I'd be really interested. They use the DSE901 and regular batteries.

Anyway -
I didn't have the money to keep trying a 510 and an 801 and whatever else 'looks' like a cig. They still use unreliable/short life ecig bats and the $$$ invested to try something with the same limitations was just not an option.

And to be honest - I have very small hands, the SD fits nicely and feels comfortable.

Because it DOESN"T look like a cig no one ever hassles me because they think I'm smoking. PLUS - for me the most important thing was replacing real cigarettes not having something that looks like one.

30 years of smoking...
Vaporized by my ScrewDriver!
